Best setup/closer tandem you've ever seen?

The starter/closer thread had me thinking of the best setup/closer duo i've ever seen. I know that the era of the specialized bullpen is farily recent (10-15) yrs but I thought it would be fun to talk about/remember those we thought were great.

Two duos come to mind and the first pick may seem to be a homer pick but they were VERY dominant for about 2-3 yrs. That duo was Duane Ward/Tom Henke. They were just about automatic and would shorten the game to a 7 inning game for the Jays. A lot of people talk about the starting pitching (92) and the offense (93) yet it was the top of the bullpen that made the Jays so good in those years.

The other duo that comes to my mind is Mariano Rivera/John Wetteland. (BTW what happened to Wetteland? was it injuries that cut his career short?) Rivera was a great understudy to Wetteland and they were probably a bit more dominant for those two years then Ward/Henke.

yup -Wettland went to Texas for a few years - thought it was either a neck or back problem that caused him to retire..

I think it was a bad back that forced Wetteland to retire. He and Rivera was the first duo I thought of....

Also the Nasty Boys trio of Charlton, Dibble, and Myers.

Although they probably couldn't make a case for most dominant tandem EVER, the Francisco Rodriguez/Troy Percival combination of a year ago scared the **** out of most teams.

Yeah it did... as a yankee fan, it was impossible getting a hit off Percival, especially when Rodriguez was in front of him.

Franco setting up for Benitez in the Mets World Series year was a beautiful thing to watch.

Probably any decent setup man in front of Mr. Lee was the best ever.
