You will buy whatever the Tribune company feeds you, won't you? All the Cubs have to do is put a winning team on the field ONCE every few years and fans will eat it up. They are selling tickets like crazy and they have a BAD team out there.

Re: Boo Cubs.
I gave up on the cubs (even though I am a white sox fan) a few games ago. I think it was against Arizona, we were down by 1 run in the 8th or 9th inning. Derek Lee gets to first safely. Then instead of having Lee actually use his abilities and steal second, he has him stay at first. What happens next?
2 pop flys out to center field. 2 outs, and the 3rd comes up shortly. Derek Lee is still at first, probably scratching his head, while they take the field. Game over.
stupid baker, stop chewin on those toothpicks, i think they're messin with yo brain!Comment

Re: Boo Cubs.
This thread is absolutely ridiculous. You people need to chill out. One week into the season and your judging the team off 6 games. You guys are the *** clowns. Just look at every team other team right now and tell me if there actual record and who they have lost to is reflective of how good of a team they are.
The most pathetic thing is that I thought these forums were filled with intelligent sports fans not homers. If you people knew anything about baseball you would know that you can't judge a team( a .500 team mind you) from a six game stretch in the beginning of the season.
This is just pathetic, all you fair-weather and bandwagon fans can go home while the real fans try to enjoy some baseball. GO CUBBIES!Comment

There was absolutely no excuse for doing this today. Lots of time left but it looks like I might be right. Embaressing.
Also, Hawkins needs to find a new role or a new team. This was a failure by the front office. Also, im sick of the Ryan Dempster Admiration Society the front office has become.Comment

Here's something why dont you just forget it. Cubs fans are the most parnoid now that the Sox have won a WS. It's a fact. Point proving Cubs fans are at each other's throats about their OWN TEAM!!! 6 games in and some are waving the white flag.President of the Devils Den

Perhaps you should take a larger test sample than six games before you go and start saying that I am some blind follower of THE EVIL TRIBUNE COMPANY! I worry about my favorite teams just like any fan, but if I were to follow your rationale of judging a team within 6 (yes thats right 6) games then I would simply have to believe that after the bulls 0-9 start that they would be winless right now. As we both know thats not the case, oh and if you don't believe me you can look it up it's true.

1. The Cubs have no leadoff hitter. If you think that Corey Patterson is a leadoff hitter, you are not objective. You are a homer. It's always a race to see what Corey will get more of. K's or Hits. He usually gets about the same every year.
2. The Cubs Bullpen is weak. They have no closer. They did nothing to get a closer. If you beleive in LaTroy Hawkins, more power to ya. Please come back after some more classic LaTroy Hawkins moments. This leads to point 3.
3. The Cubs were stupid/and too cheap to not keep Clement. Was Clement the best pitcher in baseball? Nope. Was he good? Yep. What happened when he left? Well it weakened the bullpen even futher without having Dempster in it since we needed another starter.
4. Kerry Wood has never even won 15 games and now is becoming injury prone. Wood has shown nothing more then being a thrower. His control is shakey at best. At his best he's streaky. At his worst he falls apart and walks too many batters, too many leadoff batters specifically. He has not ever shown that he can be an 'Ace' of a pitching staff.
5. Mark Prior is has not shown anything close to his form two years ago. Some people say that even people inside the Cubs organization think that Prior might be 'soft'. There are real concerns. The jury is still out on him, but at this point it's all up in the air.
NOTHING was done to make this team better in the off season. If getting rid of players and broadcasters are your idea of making a team better then yes you are a homer buying the company line. They are happy for it. Their offense is weaker, their starting pitching is weaker, their bullpen is weaker....so other than that. I see a stellar year.
You can say '6 games this, 6 games that', but these are facts that have been in place since BEFORE the season. As a Cub fan for over 30 years I've seen plenty with this team. As has my father. They have/had a small window that they didn't do everything to take advantage of. Success is fleeting in baseball, and when you have the opportunity you go for it. They didn't and now will deal with the consequences...to sellout crowds every day win or lose. I know I won't be there, but if you'd like to help their bottom line be my guest. They've added more premium seats and added some 'premium' concessions from what I hear. Enjoy!PSN: JISTIC_OS
