Last year didn't the attendance get a huge boost when Ollie was pitching? I thought I remember reading that the days where Ollie would pitch at home there would be a huge spike in walk-up tickets bought.

Yes there was. When he pitched the park was close to sellout. The only other time PNC sells out is on a Fireworks or Bobblehead Night. Firework nights bring everyone out of the woodworks...

Not this year...they are not even close to sellouts now. It seems the SBC flare is gone and without Bonds in the lineup the casual gamers arn't coming AND the team is doing only mediocre and the Giants have one of the most outrageous ticket prices in the league

Actually so far they're averaging about 38K a game or 91.5% of capacity. Not too bad.

You must not have seen the Indians play any home games from 1995-2001. They sold out every game, every year (455 straight) in that span. I believe the capacity at the Jake is 43,300.

Where I am the Halos and the Dodgers both set their attendence records last season so its always packed. Ticket prices and food prices are getting rediculous now a days also.

By the way, I went to an Angel game when they played the Indians and there were 37,000 at the game, and it was a game during the middle of the week. On weekends they get around 42,000.

Tell me about it. It was 4.50, last time I checked, at Fenway for a 20oz bottle of soda. The same bottle of soda I can get at Wal-Mart down the street for 75 cents. I think hotdogs were 3.50 or 3.75 last year as well. Its why I rarely buy anything at Fenway. Except for the game I took my dad to, he wanted to buy me a sausage so that was fine. It's a pain too, because I enjoy ballpark food.

A bunch of the older stadiums like Shea, Three Rivers, Riverfront, RFK, etc. are old "all-purpose" stadiums. The extra seats are for football. Busch and Oakland also come to mind.

I think the average stadium size... er, ballpark size is perfect, 35k to 50k.

Yeah Wrigley is always sold out. But what I want to know is how come even for playoff games I see nothing but empty seats in the NBA? I'm sure not all stadiums, but I saw some of the Heat game the other night....where is everyone? Don't you people know you have a 1 seed?

The streak started on June 12, 1995 and ended on April 4, 2001. They sold out every home game in that time span.

Turn on a Cubs , Red Sox, Yankees, and Giants home game and if you see an empty seat alert the media. I might be leaving some team out but these teams always have full crowds.

I went to a Tuesday night game and we had a little more than 51,000 there but it looked like a lot less.

I goto Safeco Field about 2-3 times a month and it rarely sells out. The stadium holds about 42-43,000, but usually has about 29-35,000 per game. On the weekends there are more people of course. The busiest game I usually attend is when the Yankees are in town, they add about 500 seats in center field. The Mariners were in the top 10 in attendance last year, with an average of 36,300 a game, and they lost 99 games. They also were higher than Boston and third in the AL. In 2003 Seattle was second in the MLB in attendance, in 2002 and 2001 they were first in the MLB in attendance. Seattle loves their baseball.
