Re: Two 300 game winners on Friday

The best pitching from a starter i've ever seen was Clemens time in Toronto. I have to think those were the greatest years for just about any pitcher. Take a gander at these numbers:

    1997

    21-7

    9 CGs 3 SHOs

    264.0 IPs 204 Hs

    60 ERs

    292 Ks 68 BBs

    2.05 ERA 226 ERA+

    1998

    20-6

    5 CGs 3 SHOs

    2.34 IPs 169 Hs

    69 ERs

    271 Ks 88 BBs

    2.65 ERA 176 ERA+

Yeah, I think the Hudson-Mulder matchup will be a great game. Mulder coming off a 10 inning shoutout!!? That's unheard of in this day and age. I thought it was a misprint first time I saw it!

But they won. Imangine saying "Ya my last 2 years I was 36-8 with an ERA of 1.60". Thats not even funny. Its even worse when i think of the uniform he was wearing. Go to hell Larry Himes & Tribune .

Guys was 94 the strike year? Maybe that would explain the low amount of starts. How could I have missed that?

Yes '94 was the strike year.

I believe Tony Gwynn was on pace to hit .400 that year. A shame that we couldn't find out if he could do it.

Yeah, that sucked, plus the Expos were the best team in baseball!! I think it was an MLB conspiracy...

Good day for pitching matchups, we've also got Peavy vs. Webb.

Not only that, but they got off to a late start in '95 because of the strike as well. That explains his low number of starts that year.

Plus, Bagwell was on his way to win the Triple Crown in '94 as well.

I believe there was a guy who had a shot at 50 homers in 1994 as well... I forgot his name...

Matt Williams was on pace to hit over 61 HR's that year.

You guys are depressing me about this '94 talk. What a great, great year for baseball (statistically speaking) just to get thrown out the window for nothing.

You're exactly right. Boy how time makes you forget. Thanks bro.

There you go, Matt Williams. Thanks

Let's not forget Tony's pursuit of .400... only .006 below that number.
