Yeah, thats why I said they should instead of would.
Good win today. Beckett started off well then reverted back to the Beckett we've been seeing a lot of this year as he command abandoned him and he overthrew a lot. His last inning of work may have been his best though as he mixed his pitches up well and started getting his curveball over consistently. The offense did enough to win as well, though they did leave far too many guys on.
Tomorrow's matchup should be good, Schilling vs Smoltz. I'm already getting pumped for that one.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
The recovery after the blowup in the 7th was somewhat predictable though nice to see, but I'm more upset about that bullpen in the 7th inning.
I don't think anything in baseball bothers me more than seeing a LOOGY come into a game and walk the only batter he needs to get out. I also think Delcarmen was throwing well enough to stay in the game and face McCann. Of course, the call to Seanez and subsequent bomb were all too predictable. Again, I am usually very rational about all things baseball related, but Rudy Seanez inspires irrational hatred that I can't explain. I can't even believe they kept this bum Seanez over a guy like David Riske...
If the Braves bullpen wasn't historically poor, this game would look real ugly.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
That may have been the best win of the season, or at least just behind the win at Detroit (which, ironically, also featured a big homerun by Youk). It was just a lot of fun to watch them come back like that after surrendering the lead.
Lopez has done nothing to impress me though. A lefty-specialist needs to come in and throw strikes, and he really hasn't done that so far.
Seanez had a crap April, but he had a great May (1.86 ERA in 9 appearances) and he's having a good June. Other guys in this pen have been far worse.Last edited by Misfit; 06-19-2006, 12:53 AM.Comment

I didn't get to see last night's game, but I was surprised to see Snyder's name in the win column. Good for him, he proved me wrong and even shut down Soriano. Looks like Manny is ready to come out of his slump too. It would be great to sweep the Nats at home, though I'll settle with 2 out of 3.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006
I bought tickets for tonight thinking it was going to be nice out and now the forecast on Boston.com says:
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning.
Should be a good time.Comment
