Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Schilling had a poor start, like Johnson. I think it'd be foolish to say that they aren't going to be effective from here on in. Although Schilling pitched poorly, RJ might have an injury.

And from the little bit I saw of Eck on the pre-game and post-game stuff he was actually really good. Better than some of the tools on ESPN. But that probably isn't saying much.

You serious? Eck is the freakin man. He is by far the best analyst NESN has for their pre/post game shows.

Eckersley should be in the booth for ESPN or on Baseball Tonight, he's very good at what he does. He is edgy without trying to be where as it seems ESPN hires guys specifically to make outrageous statements that usually just sound stupid.

I used to respect him, but the whole incident where he swore on NESN (I was watching it live but can't remember the exact statement - something along the lines of 'The Yankee offense is ****ing pathetic') just left an awful taste in my mouth. He seems so unprofessional.

And would it kill him to wear a suit every now and then?

Eck would be nice to see on ESPN. I still can't believe ESPN hired Jon Kruk over Jerry Remy.

            Mind blowing.

Between the pace of this game, the number of guys left on base, and the two catches by NY to rob home runs, this game is getting very frustrating.

Rather have Remdog here on NESN...
18-1 hell of a season regardless

Bernie and Melky must take outfield together...

The Sox missed a chance to get that run in if they pinch ran for Mirabelli and stole a base...heresay, but you gotta take Doug out with Wakefield at the end of the line. Hopefully he scores regardless, although it hasn't been easy tonight.

Paps shuts it down and the Sox take a series at the Stadium. Great game Loretta, Yankees won't be winning any championships the way they played these games.

I'm glad they won tonight, that would have been a tough loss. Chacon pitched like Chacon, and should have been out long before the fourth but his defense and some bad hitting bailed him out. Torre knew what was up when he pulled him in the 4th. They pulled it out though. The bullpen was great.

My favorite part of the game was Miguel Cairo's 20 second at bat in (I think) the sixth. I haven't seen anyone wave at three straight like that since my brother played T-Ball.

Good to see Willie Harris swing the bat well last night when he faced Rivera. We need more reason than his speed to keep him on the roster and the fact that his short swing can do damage from the left side against someone like Rivera is a good sign come August and September...

Hopefully we wont need Willie Harris to be having at-bats against Mariano Rivera in September...

Somethings are certain in life... Death, taxes, and the Red Sox facing Rivera in September. But hopefully he'll be brought in because he "hasn't worked in a while" like last night.

Remember, there is that five-game series in August...

I was more alluding to the fact that hopefully we'll have better players to be having at-bats against Mo than...Willie Harris.

Ah. Yes, I think so, too. But he has some unique qualities that might be worth holding onto him. Namely, his speed (on the basepaths and in center), and the fact that his strike zone is half the size of Ortiz's. And his shorter stroke might actually work to his advantage against power guys like Rivera. That was the cut fastball he drove to right field last night. He needs some work, but hopefully some time with the coaches during the season will bring out his potential.
