how about a manager sacrifice... what the *earmuffs* was he doing by starting Humber, THEN having El Duque pitch an inning, even though the team knew he was good to go.. Willie & Rick need a big swift kick in the rear for that one...

I doubt they're confident El Duque can pitch anymore than a few innings and if that's the case, I don't want him starting. The bullpen has been killed because the starters don't eat any innings.

Offense seems to be doing their job, it's the freaking pitching that has gone to the toilet... Aside from Oliver Perez' last performance, just about every freaking start in the past two weeks has been a freaking adventure. I wonder if Johan Santana is looking at this team wondering how much cheddar he can get out of them on the free agent market.

The only other option would be to bring Pedro's start up a day. Need him to eat up 7 innings tonight.

our bullpen is a joke and mini joeTorre is killing them. I am so pissed at this team and I can't see them turning it around in time but I hope I am wrong. The starters need to go 7 innings minimum right now. If any of them are pulled for pitch count I am going straight to willie's house myself!!!!

Don't forget to give the defense their credit. Pitchers throwing the ball into the outfield, Reyes bobbling routine balls, Wright throwing the ball everywhere but first base. (The guy makes a spectacular play, then airmails it to the second row)

I'm frustrated beyond belief. Now we have to win 4 straight pretty much. The Marlins have something to prove and their offense is on a roll. Couple that with our pitching woes...

If this team doesn't get their *** in gear TONIGHT we're done.

It won't matter with our bullpen the way it is. NO ONE can get guys out. From our long relievers to our closer, no one is dependable.

That doesn't put you in the win column come playoff time.

Our Starters have pitched 843 innings out of 1416 this year (59.5%). No idea where that puts up in the majors, but that can't be a good number.

so our bullpen nearly pitched as many innings as our starters....... im sure you want that number closer to 70-75%.

Regardless if we win a game or 2 and the phillies lose, are you guys going to be "celebrating" if we clinch? idk i just dont feel like celebrating and it will be awckward to watch them "sip champagne" after this. also there is no way we can win it all this year. no way. there is no way we get "lucky" or "hot" this team is done. the first round will be a formality. we all know it including the pllayer. the team doesnt have enough heart to pull out of this. mentaly they are done.

bumping him is fine as long as he eats up 7 tonight. St. Louis has already looked like they have given up, so I'm hoping that continues.

I don't know... If I was manager and we backed our way into the playoffs like this, I wouldn't allow ANY type of celebration... Fill those champagne bottles with piss, because that's what we played like... If you wanna spray that all over yourselves, then have at it.

But I can't help but remember Detroit and St. Louis last year. Didn't Detroit falter badly down the stretch? And I don't think St. Louis was playing that hot, either. So I have some hope for this team turning it around. But I don't know if either team has the pitching woes we're facing.
