Because they gave so much up for Conine. Before you write off this season, let tomorrow play out. A Mets win and a Phillies loss will have you singing a different tune. I'm all for it, if the Mets don't make the playoffs.

No Solid #1 Starter all year: OMAR does nothing to get-1

Sanchez goes down for the year: OMAR does nothing to get another solid arm in the bullpen

Mota has a couple of good games last year, gets suspended for Steroids: OMAR gives him a 2 year extension

FIRES Rick Down: OMAR hires Ho Jo (No hitting Instructor Experience) brings Rickey Henderson on board to mentor Reyes. Reyes basically turns to $#!T in the 2nd half & takes the METS with him...

You guys are Willie needs to be FIRED

No - I HATE the fact he is so unmotivational - has to be like Joe Torre (ps- another clone, Lee Mazzilli, didn't last too long either).. When is the last time he really argued a call? He also makes a lot of bone head moves during games

Great points but his decisions the past two-three weeks have all been questionable.

A lot of the mound decisions have been baffling. Last night, we wait until Perez hits TWO guys, then he decides to take him out for Sosa. Sosa is then removed after he gets one out. What a waste of a good pitcher.

Some other questionable plays: Pinch hitting Dave Newhan? The guy hasn't seen action in a couple of weeks... so he brings him in, to have him try and sacrifice the first at bat, then hit into a double play???

Where was Marlon Anderson in all those pinch hit spots?? Our best pinch hitter... getting splinters in his ***.

You know how Red Sox fans felt when they left Pedro in against the Yankees that Game 7 in the ALCS ('03)? Yeah, it's been like that for the last month. Just stupid decision after stupid decision.

He has to make the best with what he has and he hasn't done that this year. We haven't even had a solid starter in RF.

Pared Marlon Anderson is suspended. (Last Night & Today's game) As for him yanking Ollie. Ollie has always been hit or miss & last night was 1 of his MISS games. What I don't get is why isn't Rick Peterson getting any flak for what's happen to your team.You pitching has been horrible this month, yet no-1 is blaming Peterson.

Your team is making mental mistakes left & right. It's almost like the METS have totally forgotten how to play the game of baseball. What was Wright thinking on that Double Play. All he has to do was step on 3rd instead he tries to tag Ramirez.

I will say this much, since people feel Willie manages like Joe. That line-up would've been shaken-up a long time ago. During this whole debacle, your line-up has basically stayed the same. Reyes would've been dropped in that line-up if Joe was managing.

Your best hitters during this whole debacle have been Alou, LoDuca & Green yet Willie has them batting 6,7 & 8. To me this is mind-boggling.

Your line-up should've look this way some time ago:

LoDuca, Green, Beltran, Alou, Wright, Delgado, Castillo & Reyes

I thought Anderson's suspension ended Friday.

That play by Wright was what I was harping on all night. My father kept saying you can't place blame him b/c Perez hit the guys right after.

Wright makes that play and if Cabrera strikes out we're out of the inning.

I can't say anything about the comparisons to Torre... I don't agree. The lineup at this point can't change too much. You have to hope Reyes will wake up and get it going. Batting him in the bottom of the order isn't going to do it, IMO...

Turnover at the managerial and GM position will do nothing but set the organization back. This team was good 2 weeks ago, on pace for the best record in the NL. What we are seeing is a freak occurance. The MEts have gone cold as ice and the Phils are hot as hell. They are 12-3 over the past 15, if they only go 10-5, we are talking about clinching today.

New catcher and 3-4 new pitchers and we forget this year happens in September of 2008.

A dugout clearing brawl, No hitter thru 6 innings by Maine, Reyes not running out a high chopper, Olivo gets thrown out for charging and throwing a punch at Reyes and Sandy Alomar gets hit with the punch protecting Reyes.

Wow what a game!

Phillies lose!

The whole season is coming down to one day (and potentially more for a playoff). Get pumped up Mets fans. Football just won't be that important tomorrow.

We got the D-Train, who is still capable of pitching well despite bad statistics. It won't be easy. I think the team has some swagger after today.
