As much as I'm AGAINST trading Reyes, someone needs to put this kid in check. He all but disappeared the last 1/3 of the season and his attitude/demeanor was completely different.

Something happened and he simply fell off the plateau of quality baseball he is capable of.

As a huge Mets fan, I would not trade Reyes for anyone, not even Johan, I'm sorry I love Reyes and when you think of the Mets the first thing that you think of is Wright/Reyes, they are the Mets, this is our Futrure, I think there are other options out there for us to still win, like I saidmI would not even think about getting rid of Reyes, I'm sorry I know Reyes really fell off at the end of the year, and some Mets fans like me were a bit disapointed in him, but we were about the whole Team, I love Reyes and he stays. I say try and get WIllis, and maybe someone else like Livan, I think we could do fine with them. All I know is the MEts need to do something and something soon, they have done nothing of this point, is I was disapointed in anyone right now it's Omar...PLease though, Reyes go nowhere.

I agree in this case that Reyes and Wright should be untouchable....ONLY because unlike other teams, I believe we are on the verge of being a championship caliber club...but only if all of our current ML level pieces stay in place.
What I mean is....we need all of our players at the ML level that would be considered attractive to other clubs, while teams like the Sox and Yanks do not. I think they could get away with trading Cabrera, Cano or Ellsbury and Bucholz and still improve themselves with Santana.
With us, it would be addition by subtraction. We would be considerably better in the pitching department, but SEVERELY hindering ourselves at something the Mets have been lacking FOR YEARS.....at leadoff hitting.
We simply don't have what it takes to get Santana. Pure and simple. There is no package of minor league talent that we could put together to convince the Twins to part with Johan. Our only chance is that the Twins get po'ed at the Yanks and Sox for not wanting to part with what they should to get Santana, that the Twins decide to take our "lesser" prospects(which would IMO equal what the Yanks/Sox offer if they try and keep guys like Ellsbury/Bucholz/Hughes/Chamberlain/Cano)
What are the chances of that?....slim and none I'm afraid.

Omar needs to be fired for making this trade, what an *** he is, this make us no better, I can't believe he gave up a major prospect for this, Lastings was a key peice to any major deal we were going to make, this is one of the worst trade I ever seen, we got nothing, NOTHING!!!!! I'm one pissed of METS fan today, I loved Lastings, and we just gave him away, what the hell are the METS doing, and then to trade him in the divison....WOW.

I never understood what the big problem with Lastings was... So what he slapped five with the fans after hitting a HR.. Big deal.... I understand he's trade material, but for THIS?!?!?!? Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

I was on the Mets mlb.com site, and someone over there reported that 1050 ESPN radio was reporting some type of deal being done regarding Bedard... I know WFAN wouldn't hop on something first reported by "the other station" in town, but I have at least a little glimmer of hope that this offseason isn't totally shot.

They say that both the A's and O's weren't interested in Lastings AT ALL. No way you make this though, would rather keep him then make this. Schnieder and Church aren't players you need to have. Church had a nice year but Lastings is better IMO.
