I am just worried Dusty is going to quit playing him, he might be better off in AAA.
Do you realize he is 17 for his last 101, for a .178 average, by comparsion Patterson is 18-101 for a .188 average and as we know everybody wants to get rid of him.

Also Harrang had another bad outing last night and is now 3-11.
He was sent back to Cincy today to get a MRI done, not good not good at all.
I almost hope he is hurnt to explain his bad stretch.
Jeff Brantley was saying last night that Brucie ("pushin' it to the max, baby!") has been getting pitched inside all the time while he's been in this slump. He needs to make adjustments just like the pitchers have done to him. He did look incredibly lost last night though. Didn't he have 4 K's? I hope he hasn't picked up any bad habits from hanging out with Dunn and Junior.

Apparently Dr. Kremcheck said on the radio tonight that bringing Harang in for that game against the Padres back in May (I think) that went 18 innings, or whatever it was, might have messed him up. He could be out for the season.

I think we need a hitting coach that can tell him what he is doing wrong and help him through it. And please don't ever compare him to Patterson. Not even to make a point. Patterson flat out sucks, always has and always will. Bruce is 10x's the player Patterson ever dreamt about being. Players go through slumps, especially young players as they adjust to the BIGS. Patterson has been in a slump since being called up 8 years ago.

But if he continues to stay in a slump, and no hitting coach can do his freaking job, then I say send him back to AAA to work on things and get his crap straight. Obviously AAA has a better hitting and pitching coach so why not?

I'd have no problem with sending Bruce back to Louisville. It seems more and more these days that teams are willing to send down big time prospects if they're not performing well, the Royals recently did it with Billy Butler. It'd be good for Bruce to get some confidence back.

Come on now Patterson has not always sucked!
He batted .276 with 15 HRs 53 RBI's and 45 SB's just 2 years ago. Not to mention in 2004 he batted .266 with 24 hrs and 72 rbi's along with 32 sb's. Has he been horrible this year, yes! Should the Reds release him? YES! But to say he sucks and has always sucked is just wrong and lazy on your part! You cant say with a straight face he has sucked since he was called up 8 years ago.

Despite all our struggles, I wanted to point out that 4 of our pitchers (we really only have a solid 4, who knows who #5 is) are in the top 26 of the MLB in strikeouts with Volquez, Harang, Cueto, and Arroyo being those four. I think that's a good sign... especially in hitter friendly GABP. Can't get a hit if the ball ain't in play.

And speaking of pitchers, I really love that top 3 of Volquez, Harang, and Cueto. It sucks that Harang is having such a down year (he wasn't getting any run support, now he's just been pretty bad and injured), but Volquez has been awesome and Cueto, though his numbers are pretty average, he brings great stuff and electricity to the team.

I know as a Reds fan we say this frequently, but the future does look bright pitching-wise. It's just a matter of mixing the hitting and pitching and fielding together. It always seems like our hitting is on when our pitching is not and vice versa.

Yeah, the leaders in K's is definitely a plus. Volquez, Harang, and Cueto have been in that top 25 for most of the season.

To pick 2 years out of the 9 he has been in the league to make an argument that he hasn't always sucked is what is lazy. OK, so he had a decent year 2 years ago and a semi-decent year 4 years ago. You could even make an argument that in 2003 he hit .298 so that must have been a good year. Until you realize he only played in 83 games. The only thing those three years did was bring his career average UP to .254 and his career OBP UP to .293. Take those three years away and tell me where he is. So I will say it again. He sucks and has always sucked. I can even say it with a straight face. Except this time I will say "sans 3 years where he was almost average." Does that make you feel better?

Either way you look at it Patterson couldn't hold Bruce's jock in anything except speed. Which is the ONLY thing Patterson has ever been exceptional at. We will see where Bruce is in 9 years and compare him to the almighty Patterson.

Has Homer Bailey turned the corner? Looked outstanding today and better than I have ever seen him. Under control at all times and really hitting the corners. I was ready to give up on him before but if he is turning the corner then this could be a great step up for the Reds.

Hopefully, he was great today...and he was pretty PO'd about getting pulled today, he dropped a ton of F bombs. But you couldn't really blame Dusty for wanting the Lefty vs Lefty match up, too bad Bray screwed that up.

Man you are impossible to talk to about baseball sometimes.
You can not say SOMEONE HAS ALWAYS SUCKED, and then admit he has had 3 good years.
If you have ALWAYS sucked you can not have 3 good years.
And please dont turn this into a "you love Corey Patterson" debate.

LOL...the feeling is mutual  But it's cool man, we are here to talk and debate and let it be. I said he has always sucked because I feel like he has. Yes, he had 3 mediocre years, but that doesn't mean they were successful years either. I don't think you "love Corey Patterson" either but I do think you wanted to debate whether or not he has sucked for his career or not. His career averages tell the story to me.

I said he has "always" sucked because of his career averages and his 6 out of 9 seasons being horrific. It is and was just my opinion, so the need was not there to try and prove me wrong that he had two seasons that were decent. But I digress. For my next comment or evaluation I will make sure that I give every detail as to why I am saying what I am saying so that I don't have to worry about someone trying to disprove my opinion.

Man I still wish we had Hamilton. BTW...95 freakin' RBI's at the All Star Break? Our #3 and #4 batters have 102 combined!!! I think Hamilton will just have to be my favorite player that isn't a Red. Just can't get over his overall talent.

As far as the briefcase, the only thing I could think of is if that was what you got if you won and Volquez was just giving it to him early (eventhough he ended up not winning). Otherwise I have no idea what that was about. But you gotta love out of all the players only one or two hit the ball at about 480 feet yet Hamilton was able to hit it over 500 feet at least 3 times (maybe more) and several beyond 480.

I truly hope that Hamilton wins the AL MVP award and Volquez wins the Cy Young. You just know they will talk about that trade for years to come if that were the case. Of course they may still talk about it for years to come if Hamilton becomes the next Mickey Mantle regardless of what happens with Volquez.

I just hope Volquez can be great for years to come, I didn't like the trade when it happened because of what Hamilton did in his first year in limited time because his injuries and Volquez hadn't had much success, but it's easier let it go because how great Volquez has been.

Doesn't it just figure that our lone All Star player, currently a Cy Young candidate, had to give up a two run bomb to allow the AL to get back into the game and eventually win it? Seems if Cincy is in the headlines, it isn't a good thing.

Not really a big deal though, I just wish he struck out the side and showed everyone why he could have a stellar career.
