Well, I guess Owings is injured and injured players can't be put on waivers, so he wasn't claimed by another team. So, he'll have to get healthy before the d'backs can put him on waivers. Also, Marcus McBeth was claimed by the red sox today, and he's now with the red sox triple A team.

Owings only has to be put on waivers if we was one of the players named. Once the season is over, they can name him whether he's hurt or not and he will not have to clear waivers.

Yeah I know, I think we'll most likely not see who the players are for sure until after the season because there are teams that are worse than us() and they'd probably put a claim on one if they are good young players.

Reds got Wilkin Castillo, a catcher, as the other PTBNL.

The official website of the Cincinnati Reds with the most up-to-date information on news, tickets, schedule, stadium, roster, rumors, scores, and stats.

He can also play 2nd, 3rd, SS(primary position until he was 15), has also played the outfield and 1st base.

I watched the game tonight, the 3-1 win over the Pirates. And it was great to see them win, but I felt the most exciting part of the night was after the game when Chris Welsh and Jim Day were arguing over their favorite REO Speedwagon songs. The thought of those two rolling in a '92 Camaro sporting jean jackets, mullets, smoking cigarettes and rocking out to REO Speedwagon had me rolling.

I went to the game in Pittsburgh Wednesday night and all I can say is I wish we had Pittsburgh stadium. It is head and shoulders above GABP!
The best part about the trip is Tuesday night (we went up Tuesday morning) we where setting at the hotel bar and who walks in and sets right next to us????? Dusty Baker!!!
He was with a very large white man who was his friend who makes sure nobody messes with him! That was his exact words!
Anyway he set with me and my wife for over an hour and talked to us the whole time. The bar was pretty empty and he noticed my wifes Reds sweat shirt is the reason he set by us. This was not at the hotel that the Reds where staying at by the way, he says he never goes to the hotel bar at the team hotel because there are too many "rowdy" fans that know the players are staying there.
I know alot of us can not stand him and want him fired but he was the nicest guy in the world, he even payed for 2 or 3 rounds of our drinks!!
I did ask him a couple "tough" questions and he danced around them. lol
I asked him about playing Patterson so much and he asked me who he should play. He said he only has had 3 healthy outfielders lately.
Most of our talk was about the olympics as it was on TV and he said he has been watching it as much as possible.
Again this was Tuesday night from about 11:15pm to 12:15am, and it may be tough to believe but it is the truth.

that's pretty cool ... congrats. i do think dusty gets more of a hard time than he deserves. i'm even guilty of it myself.

by the way, i like the way the reds look right now. speed, defense, and a desire to play.

I'm glad you had the guts to ask him some tough questions, but Patterson did at least get some hits the past 3 games, not saying that means a whole bunch but at least we got some use from him. He sounds like a nice guy.

Dont get me wrong I didnt ask any really tough questions because I was afraid he would just leave.
The thing that really impressed me about him is how down to earth he was. He never talked down to me and listened to everything I said. He sit and talked to us like he had known us for years. As a matter of fact I noticed a few people come in and stare at him, they knew who he was but they where afraid to talk to him. My wife heard one guy say lets not bother him he is out having a good time with friends.
One other thing we talked about was how my 11 year olds favorite player is Brandon Phillips. He said Brandon was a great "kid" and that he thought Brandon would be the captain of the Reds one day.

                        Per Hal McCoy's blog...

Adam Dunn is not a bit pleased that Bronson Arroyo told the Cincinnati writers that Dunn would be asking for $115 million to $125 million after the season.

And, in fact, he denies it.

“I don’t know where that number would come from,” said Dunn. “False information, that’s all I can say. That makes me look like a jackass. You never hear players talking about money. I don’t think about the off-season. Me and my agent don’t even talk about numbers.”

It came, of course, from Arroyo and Dunn is correct. Players don’t often talk money issues in the clubhouse. I’ve been around Dunn his entire career and not once has he lied to me or fudged on any question or answer.

If he says he never mentioned his asking price to be $115 million to $125 million, I believe him implicitly.

And he said GM Walt Jocketty and his agent never discussed a contract, let alone any figured and he said he never told any teammates anything about what it would take to sign him.

Also, jake, took in a Pirates-Astros game at PNC a few years back. Still my favorite ballpark that I've been to with New Busch Stadium a close second. I've been to Wrigley and Fenway and still liked PNC better. Still have yet to visit PacBell/SBC or whatever the Giants home is called now and have a feeling that will take the #1 slot for me when that happens. But, thought they did an awesome job with PNC. It's a shame for Pirates fans that they don't have a better product on the field for the nice ballpark. Not too much of a shame though...it's still Pittsburgh.

Geez Jake, now you are making up stories about Baker to make us like him more???

JUST KIDDING. That is actually a very cool story. Isn't it funny how we, as fans, can rip a player or manager or GM to shreds because of some of their bonehead moves yet if we ever meet them we find out how human and nice they can actually be? Not everyone is nice like Baker was, but I bet a bigger portion of celebs, than one might think, are very nice.

I am also glad you brought up Patterson. Although your reply to him saying he only has 3 healthy outfielders, should have been "what about the first 80 games of the season?" LOL. If he didn't continually make Patterson prove he sucked for the first half of the year, then I doubt anyone would blame him when he only had 3 outfielders healthy.

By the way Volquez is now 15-5 with a 2.75 ERA! He has been unreal this year, he has to be the Cy Young runner up to Webb.
