He not only hated Lind but it seemed like he buried the guy every time he struggled.

Anyways it's nice to see us as spoilers. It would be rewarding if we swept the Rays

BTW the Rays announcers were saying the Jays are going to be a scary team next year. I think that shows respect for the job Cito and his staff are doing thus far.

Its not just that he didn't like Lind, but I don't really think he set Stewart up to succeed either because to me he never really gave him the confidence that he was the guy. I just think all the factors, including Dumbo's teaching, hurt us an awful lot in the long run.

Nice game today to battle back after the early adversity. I didn't see the game today, but all in all I just find the team more exciting to watch. Like you guys, I hope we can carry this momentum into next season. I'm really stoked to see what a full year of Cito can do for these guys, and with the pitching staff mostly being young guys I don't see why they won't just keep getting better.

Add this to the fact that we didn't have Jannsen or Accardo this year and this team should be even better. I think AJ will be gone so I think Jannsen will be given a shot at a starting position or we'll have to find a middle of the road inning eater via Free Agency.

Accardo will be in the pen or trade bait as I think Downs is now entrenched as the setup guy which is basically what Accardo's role was. Nonetheless it'll be interesting to see what happens personnel wise. I keep hearing Raul Ibanez's name as potential DH for this team but I dunno, I just don't get all excited for him. I hope that the Mets let Delgado go (not likely) or the Jays can get Manny. (even less likely) Getting Ibanez just smacks of "middle of the road safe signing".

A suggestion to the Jays front office:

          Dangle BJ during the offseason.

          Thank you.

Definitely not his best showing, but only his 4th blown this year so things could be a lot worse on that end. As for your comments re: trading Accardo, in my mind you can never too strong of a bullpen and with his closing experience I think you have to keep him.

Now, I'm not really a much of a Zaun fan at all, bit WOW! Huge hit!

              You're probably right re: Accardo.

I'm not just talking about blown saves on BJ's part but it's getting real old with him playing with fire all the time. It seems like he can't get an automatic save like you'd like your closers to have. Y'know what I mean?

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!

I would like the Jays to go after Pat Burrell. I think that he will be cheaper than the big names (Giambi/Manny etc), and can put up the .250/.380/.500 numbers the Jays need out of the cleanup spot. Also, that sets up this potential lineup if the Jays move Hill to SS

                Inglett
                Hill
                Wells
                Burrell
                Lind
                Rios
                Overbay
                Rolen
                Barajas

IMO that lineup is at worst passable, and if the Jays throw out a Doc-Marcum-McGowan-Litsch-Purcey rotation I think they would be a legit contender (again). I would love to see them dangle Inglett + RP to some idiot GM for a #3 pitcher though.

And for the hell of it, I did the always fun pitching thing where you calculate the ERA of your #1-5 starts.

                  #1: 2.67 (28 Halladay)
                  #2: 3.44 (1 Halladay, 23 Marcum, 4 Litsch)
                  #3: 3.96 (19 Litsch, 9 McGowan)
                  #4: 4.39 (10 McGowan, 18 Burnett)
                  #5: 5.26 (12 Burnett, 3 Richmond, 10 Purcey, 5 Parrish)

Its weird how Burnett actually has the worst ERA out of our 5 starters from the beginning of the year.

Pat Burrell might not want to come to Toronto what with our "turf". I hate the stigma that the Rogers Centre turf gets because it's the closest thing to grass without being grass.

If Burrell comes here, he isn't playing left field. That man may be the worst LF in all of baseball.

Hah, OK, just making sure. I'd be a lot more confident with Lind/Snider sharing duties in Left.

Game rained out means we play 7 games in 5 days. Which probably means starting Purcey, Richmond and Parrish in Boston. Yikes.

If the Jays win a game with that rotation against Boston i'll pray at the altar of Cito and co.

They say now that if we somehow end up in striking distance of Boston going into that series Doc will start the Sunday game on short rest.
