I don't want to get in the whole race thing as I don't livee in NYC so the only coverage I see is ESPN, MASN, and Sportsouth when the Mets play the Nats and Braves respectively.

I will say this, you don't fire Willie during the season, but no playoffs and he's gone the Monday after.

It's also time to see what Manaya can do, let's get some bullpen and let's get it now.

I don't see him making even until then..

This team is just unwatchable right now. BLECH!...
Some might call me a "fair weather fan"....but it's not that. A team that I know is not very good.....I will root for until the end. Believe me...I've been through plenty of those squads. I always try and find something on the team to keep me interested.
But teams that have what it takes to win....and especially ones that are making boatloads of money.....that just don't seem to give a crap(to me anyway) when they are playing on the field or talking off the field I just cannot get into. This is becoming one of those squads.
Somebody stop them!

I don't understand how this team can be so bi-polar.

One game they're lights out, dominant and look to be one of the best in the NL. And the next... well, not so much.

The talent is there to be challenging for the division. I don't see the passion though.

its crazy being a mets fan, we suck when we have a crappy team and when we dont we find a way to. it was almost surreal watching the mets dominate in 06 but they were true to form against the cardinals at the end and then last year they got off to a good start but since then have been under 500. its nuts. part of me almost wants them to get blown out everyday, that way changes can be made. like not just add santana and expect to go to the playoffs like get rid of guys,etc. the oter part of me says id be much happier of they just blew up and started winning like crazy but then again im not going to trust them in the playoffs or down the stretch. its just a bad situation with the mets its like there is something seriously wrong with the team but no one knows what it is. its strange.

and I'll add this...I love the guy, he's an A-1 hitting machine...and I hate to say it, but at this point, I agree with what was briefly touched on today....Minaya simply releasing him from the roster.

While I was never one of those who caught the fake hysteria about Alou ("oh my God, what's he here for...he's too old, etc.."), I'll be honest...when you have someone of his caliber...who quite simply, can't stay on the field (as we saw literally last night), you JUST recently got off the DL...to go back on today....I wish him luck, and hope he signs on with someone else.

The Mets need a young, potent and reliable right handed mashing outfielder...

I haven't been able to follow our boys too closely this week; my youngest son had neurosurgery on Tuesday, so I've been shuttling back and forth between the house and the hospital. I caught enough of the game tonight to see Santana blow the lead in the 7th. I had a feeling that with our schizo personality, we'd probably not play too good against the bravos, but a sweep? WHAT'S GOING ON?!?!?!?

I really only watched the top of the 9th....

'Wonder Boy' Wright, led off with a sinking liner single to left...prior to that hit, he did squat in the game...

Beltran hits a rocket to right...Wright was doubled off of first

The replay showed that on contact, he did not look for the ball, but instead, looked towards second...that split second cost him dearly as he could not reverse course in time....

this was basically the same scenario that caught Beltran off of the bag in a game last week.

Delgado rips a sinking liner to center that Kotsay made a sliding catch on to end the game....

I will BET you that Wright will be let off the hook from tonight on...and IF he IS taken to task for snuffing out a potential Mets rally, it'll be a fraction of the heat Beltran took. and remmebr this, when Beltran had his miscue, it was taked about for 3 or 4 days AFTERWARDS.

Honestly...I think his job is in jeopardy, but there's no sense in guessing because only management knows for sure...and regarding his 'apology', he should of never, ever backtracked....that made the situation worse

Willie's days are numbered. It sounds like the Wilpons will meet him when they return from this trip. If we have to replace him, I suggest Frank Robinson. He's an outsider, yet close to Omar. If he hasn't soften, he was once considered a rough-nose old school style manager.

Other considerations is Manuel. (Rather have Frank)
Wally Backman (Wilpons will never do it)
Bobby Valentine (It would cost significantly)
Lee Mazzilli (Rather have Frank)

True to form? Give 'em some credit man; They ran up against a solid Cardinals team that got the pitching when it counted... and we had numerous injuries that hurt us.
