I've enjoyed following the Padres since I've lived out here these last two years and I always root for them (except when they play the Braves), but Kevin Towers = FAIL on this one. Listening to Scott&BR this morning was like listening to Chernobyl on the radio...the melt down by the fans was pretty amazing.

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
It's not Towers fault this time. Blame Moores, the new owner.......Towers is just doing what he is ordered to do. Jake doesn't want to go the the AL anyway, so we shall see if he veto's this.Comment

As I said, Peavy's gone by late June. It's going to be a long time before this team is competetive again.Comment

Gwynn Jr. follows dad to Padres
The official website of the San Diego Padres with the most up-to-date information on news, tickets, schedule, stadium, roster, rumors, scores, and stats.
So I guess this is supposed to placate us for the peavy deal. **** the pAAAdres, 40 years of this mickey mouse organization is tiring.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
I completely understand that. That said, if you HAVE to trade the guy you MUST get the most you can for him. Right now is not the time to do that. Towers should wait until right before the deadline and some team that is desperate to pick up a pitcher will unload their farm system. It's just a poor move right now imo..."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Deal fell through as expected. It's a bit too early IMO to trade Peavy away.
The Gerut for Gwynn Jr. trade was unexpected. Expect Hairston to play worse and be exposed as the fourth outfielder he is.
Other Padre news, Mat Latos and Will Inman are both on the move in the minors. Inman will finally pitch in AAA after being in AA for a decade and Latos will bypass Lake Elsinore. Jaff Decker continues to treat Class-A like dirt and Kyle Blanks needs a tennis racket to hit in Portland. I'm out!Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Agreed, but I would still rather have Gerut than Junior. Unless he can suddenly turn things around now that he's with his dad's team, this trade served no purpose except trying to pull a name to get some attendance.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
I love Pujols...think he's amazing and is truly going to go down as an all time great, but I think Adrian deserves at least CONSIDERATION as the starter at 1B for the NL. What he is doing in that lineup in that ballpark plus the glove he brings is simply amazing."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Adrian has cooled down, which is a bad thing for my fantasy team.
The Diamondbacks bullpen is on my good list. If it weren't for their ****ty performance, Max Scherzer gets the win.
Bad, Diamondbacks pitching staff can't find the plate, but as usual the Padres continue to let opportunities slide.
The Ugly? The ballpark doesn't prevent runs from scoring, obviously. How about they stop trotting out Giles and Kouzmanoff in the heart of the order since they've proven nothing more this season than to be key rally killers.
Everth Cabrera is on rehab. He's in Lake Elsinore for 10 games and will move up to Portland for another 10 games before rejoining the ballclub later this month. Depending on how Luis Rodriguez's rehab goes (he's also in Lake Elsinore), we may see Cabrera return as our starting shortstop.
Padres continue to prove they can't handle breaking in a young player into the big leagues right. Well, they did well to let Kouzmanoff work out of his slump his rookie season, but Headley has recently been in the doghouse for his slump. It makes no sense and it is almost similar to Nady to an extent. If he's injured, DL him. Don't just let him sit on the bench while Kouzmanoff and Giles keep getting at-bats to prove how much they suck. Why talk about how his confidence is down when you aren't giving him the chance to work out of it?
I would've vented about this a couple of days ago, but I forgot.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
On the plus side, at least Gwynn is doing well so far. I know it really hasn't been long enough to make the official judgment on him, but since joining the Padres, he has a .325 BA, with a .425 OBP. Gerut on the other hand, is only .125. Time will tell, but so far, I'm glad he's trying to prove me wrong.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment
