I actually share the same sentiments in this part. I really haven't had the desire to go to the ballpark and watch them, not while this joke of a 25-man roster they currently have is out there.

I do care, I invested a lot of time with this team. I have been followed them for more years than you have been alive, and guarantee you I have seen more games and spent more money on them than you have by a landslide.
I have more, I repeat more than earned my right to be critical of that team.
So I can't be critical because I happen to have been born a couple of decades ago? IMO, I don't care how long a person has been a fan, it's a moot point and only brings about a false sense of elitism. Do you really expect a teenager/college kid to have the funds and the time to attend a good chunk of games each year?

I'll give you that and I respect that you've show support for this team, but don't fault me because I was born in a different generation from you. That's something a person can't control.

And Anaheim is a bigger market? Hardly, it's a bigger payroll, since it has an ownership group that cares, but it's not a bigger market by any stretch.
Well, it's one of my assumptions. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.

By the way, don't take any of this as an attack bkrich. Maybe I don't see things in the same perspective as you, but I also don't agree with other fans as well. Everyone has their own opinion and obviously you do have your right to criticize the **** out of this organization. Hell, I have my beefs with this organization as well, but I'll still root for them because I don't have another organization to root for and I can't really bring myself down to just start rooting for another ballclub just for the heck of it.

      Same. It's pretty stupid.

LA looks good, but that's about it. I don't think anyone else thinks they're capable enough to make some noise in the playoffs if they do win this division.

Here's the thing it doesn't apply to you, because you weren't even alive, but growing up in Carlsbad, was a lot like it is now. I could see every Angel game on KTLA, but couldn't get hardly any Padre games on TV here. So most of my friends grew up as Padres and Angels fans, and I have followed them since the Brian Downing days because that's what was on TV.

Now that the Angels ownership at least tries to put a winning team on the field, their stadium is about the same distance to my house as Petco, and that I can see their games on TV (I can't see Padres games on DirecTV in SD), it's a no-brainer for me.

Even if I wanted to follow this travesty of a ball club, I couldn't.

I learn that when Will Clark didn't get signed. That is when I learned it was a business. Tell you the truth I guess I am team fan first then a player tan second. When Clark was gone I was crushed, but I got over it. In hockey it was the same. I loved Nolan and then he left and now that have Joe and he will probably leave some day too. It is just the life of a fan!

Thumbs up bkrich. I can understand.

I also have DirecTV and the only way I can follow the Padres games is by gamedays online wherever, but it really isn't the same as watching the game.

The Angels do handle things a lot better than the Padres. I'm just hoping that this new ownership cleans up some of this mess, but I'm not holding my tongue just yet.

Thing is according to the Home Plate Channel on XM, Moorad won't take controlling interest in the team for up to 5 years.

Yeah, it'll take some time so I'm not expecting any radical changes.

So it'll pretty much be more of the same bs.

Opening day bottom of the 6th vs. the hated Dodgers, Padres down 3-1. Bases loaded 2 outs and suprise surprise, Kouz hits a dribbler to the pitcher to end the inning. Some things never change.

ha, he did the same thing in the 8th, but it was a weak fly to the first baseman in foul territory.

Watching the game with the dodgers feed, what a blessing not to have to ever listen to "Matty V" again

                      GO pAAAdres!

I don't think there was an SD feed.. I saw Matty on the MLB network at the same time they were playing. Or if there was, he wasn't doing it.

Why would anyone throw Adrian Gonzalez a strike?

did he take Mark Grant with him?

The parts I watched had Vin Scully. What a huge difference...
