That's because fan's that vote, don't know what they hell they are doing. The allstar game voting is a popularity contest.

      QFT.

Any other team, and he'd be in the talks for the MVP race, although so far, it's looking like a 3 man race between Utley, Berkman and Chipper. Gonzo wouldn't be too far behind if he could raise that BA just a little bit more.

The Padres have just become the first team to win 4 straight games with a score of 2-1.

Speaks volumes about our pitching getting back to form.

Also speaks volumes about our crap hitting.

5 in a row, and they actually had to work for this one!

Great game today. It's always extra sweet to sweep NY. The pitching has indeed turned it around, this with both Peavy and Young out.

We still are terrible with runners in scoring position, no speed, little power beyond AG, some questionable decisions by the manager, and the base running is atrocious. But hell I'll take a 5 game winning streak.

Despite how bad we are with RISP, P-Mac actually leads the league in batting w/RISP! Never saw that one coming...

Speaking of Peavy though, the radio broadcast today said that he could be back to pitch against LA on Thursday.

We need Peavy back. Ledezma is terrible.

Ledezma isn't a starter. He's a long reliever or situational lefty.

                  Banks is doing great though.

I guess it's guaranteed that Peavy will start Thursday.

Headley should be called up pretty soon.

Heard a rumor this morning that Headley caught a plane out of Vegas today...

Edit: NM. He's still in Vegas with the rest of the Beavers. Playing 3B tonight.

He could still end up catching a flight to Cleveland between now and tomorrow... although I think they're going to keep delaying him and "bring" him up for the Yankees series, then they'll make the excuse "facing the Yankees is too much pressure, we'll bring him up next series" and so on...

I'm going to start calling Headley "Home" now, because it keeps getting delayed.

                            KT did say this yesterday...

"It could happen as early as this road trip," San Diego general manager Kevin Towers said Wednesday, before the Padres went out and beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-1 at Petco Park. The Padres play at Cleveland, Friday through Sunday, face the Chicago Cubs in the exhibition Hall of Fame Game next Monday, and visit the New York Yankees, Tuesday through June 19.

We'll see... I'm not holding my breath.

Meanwhile, welcome back Jake! 9-0 makes him 12-1 with a 2.21 ERA against LA!

San Diego general manager Kevin Towers said on Saturday that Chase Headley, regarded as the top prospect in the Padres' Minor League system, will join the team this weekend in Cleveland.

I think he's already in Cleveland, but won't be activated until tomorrow.

Maybe Hairston goes on the DL (hyperextended elbow before today's game), a reliever gets sent down, or maybe one of the backup outfielders go bye-bye.

Edit: Gerut should've been on the team the whole time, he just homered and now the ballgame is tied against Cleveland.
