a 5-1 homestand. considering i didn't think we'd win 5 games in any month this season, i'm a happy camper. yes it's a long season, but it's fun being a fan right now.

I'm very impressed with the team so far. Not only is the team 6-1, but some of their best prospects (Matt Wieters, Chorye Spoone) are tearing up their respective minor league level. We should be seeing them shortly.

            Re: The 2008 Baltimore Orioles

There's really no "real" Orioles fans on this board...just people who claim to be fans but bash anyone and anything involved with the team. They only come around when good things happen, and even when they do, negative things come out. The "Orioles fans" here barely even give Markakis credit for being a good player. There's a point where all the Orioles and Angelos bashing gets old and unnecessary. Sure he's handled the team poorly in the past, but what else does he have to do now? He actually hired a man who knows what he is doing and has built World Series winning teams and has allowed a complete rebuild, something that he never would have done before. We have a ridiculous number of young pitching prospects worth watching and a catcher by the name of Wieters that a lot of people will know about very soon, but to the "Orioles fans" here, nothing's good enough.

It's a shame that there's no support here. Adam Jones just had a huge night tonight that might really start to get him going, the team managed to come from 5-1 down to win the game by 1 run, making them 7-1 in 1 run affairs, but the team still sucks and Adam Jones is just another fluke and a flash in the pan and won't help this team win. They're surpassing everyone's expectations so far, and will they come back down to Earth? Probably, but why not enjoy it while it lasts?

Please man. Where were you when I was posting spring training updates? I didn't see you. Why did I stop posting? Because nobody cared. I was tired of having a one person conversation. I instead talk to groups of Orioles' fans on other sites. Just because nobody talks in here doesn't mean they don't care.

I would get that "I'm the only true Oriole fan on this board" idea out of your head. That whole post of yours was just a bunch nonsense rambling.

That's pretty negative there. Calling out other people's negative thoughts and then throwing one in yourself? Why not just leave it at "They're surpassing everyone's expectations so far"?

                Re: The 2008 Baltimore Orioles

Give me a break JJ. There are like... what, 5 O's fans on this board (you, me, bauer, millenium... and probably one more). So you can't expect this thread to be incredibly active. Secondly, it's hard to be skeptical about this team, esp. since we've come out of the gates pretty well the past few years before the inevitable collapse. If you read this thread, yes there is negativity which I think is ok, but everyone here have said either they're excited for the future and/or it's great being an O's fan... right now. And don't base other's "true fandom" based on the number of posts on a message board; that's both childish and completely ridiculous.

As for Markakis, I believe you're talking directly at me on this one. Yes, he's a good player, but not great yet. Our best player... by far, and probably our best home grown player since Moose, but let's not open the doors to the HOF for him yet.

I'm not saying he's a HOFer, but how many 23 year olds put up a .300/23/112 line?

Again, I'm not saying he's bad, but a .300/23/112 isn't amazing in today's game. According to Baseball Reference, these are the guys he's most similar to at the age of 23...

and let me say, I sure he ends up playing better than most of them.

                        Re: The 2008 Baltimore Orioles

                        I'm an O's fan.

I was born in Baltimore and grew up in Northern VA.

I remember I tried out for the Orioleanders or something like that. The tryout was at Camden Yards and warming up in the bullpen was amazing! I made the team and we wore legit uniforms...it was pretty awesome.

However I don't get a chance to watch them much! I remember the days of Buddy Groom and Jorge Julio haha. That's the last time I got to watch the O's consistently.

Believe it or not The Show is getting me back to watching more baseball so I'm going to try and follow them better.

The Orioles highest hitter by percentage is Luke Scott at .281

Yet somehow they are one game over .500.

We have problems hitting, but our bullpen has been awesome and the starters have been better than expected so far.
