Well crap! Now we head into the break 6 GB after the bullpen let us down today, and blew a chance at finally being .500 again. Games like today are so aggravating, especially when the Phillies can't seem to lose now.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Don't blame this on Acosta or Moylan, this is on Bobby. He has mismanaged the bullpen all year and the guys are gassed now. Acosta was in for the 3rd day in a row, which he hasn't done all year and frankly hasn't pitched all that much to begin with.
Moylan has the most appearances in the NL and maybe MLB, can't remember which they said today. This is the guy coming off surgery. He shouldn't have been used that much.
Bobby then left the guys in too long because they were shorthanded today. He should have pulled Acosta quickly and went with anyone else after he walked the 2 guys.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I just read an article regarding possible bullpen moves that could be made before the deadline and there was mention of Atlanta moving Soriano or Gonzalez. I can see them moving Gonzalez as he has struggled as of late and I don't think Bobby has confidence in him anymore. Trading Soriano would be ridiculous. The guy has a 1.55 ERA and has more than proven himself as an adequate closer for this team. How many more games would the bullpen blow with Soriano gone? I sure hope this article was speculation and nothing more. Wren would be crazy to make any move involving Soriano, unless we get a quality closer and good middle reliever in return, which I don't see happening.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I would rather keep Escobar, but they seem hell bent on trying to move him because he's an apparent head case. I think it would be a mistake to get rid of him, but I don't know just how bad the clubhouse situation is with him. I honestly believe that Holiday was a product of the Colorado altitude and probably not the big bat the Braves are looking for. It doesn't look like this season he's going to get anywhere close to the stats he put up for the Rockies, and Turner Field isn't exactly a hitter's park.Comment

Possibly, or he could be just having a bad year or a lack of support around him. It's hard to tell after only playing half a season with the A's.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
That probably has something to do with it too. I still believe that his lifetime stats are probably a little inflated because of his Colorado career. Heck, I guess you could make that argument for players everywhere though because no two ballparks are the same. With that being said, I wouldn't mind giving Church a few more weeks to work things out before trying to bring in someone like Holiday. I really think he could help us out if given the chance to play instead of always having to platoon, which has been the case most of his career.Last edited by crques; 07-14-2009, 01:54 PM.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Escobar is gone, I think the only reason hasn't been traded yet is that Infante isn't back yet. With him coming back after the all-star break, it will be any day now that Escobar is traded. There isn't room for all 3 guys to start, including Prado, and the Braves seem to have serviceable backups in Hernandez and Conrad.
Then I could see the Braves moving Church and the other player in the Oakland deal to get a bullpen guy or 2.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
So on a player vs. player comparison, who would you rather have: Esky or Infante? Both are very clutch, hit for a .300 average, however Yunel has more power and a cannon for an arm while Infante is more fundamentally sound.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I'm a curse to this team or something. Everytime I buy a player's shirt or jersey they get traded.
Andruw Jones: LAD
Renteria: DET
Teixeira: LAA
Francoeur: NYM
Escobar: OAK
Hopefully we don't trade McCann now.....
Anytime you guys want someone traded, tell me to go buy their merchandise lol.Comment
