Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
We haven't played that great against Washington this year.... just 5-4 against them so far, but its definitely better than others we could be playing to close out the season. Also have to think they will have dealt off Kearns, Willingham, Johnson, etc. by then and will have several youngsters up (specifically young pitching).
EDIT: Woah.... Just found two really cool stats while researching our stats vs. Nats this year. We lead the Majors in both team batting average (.304) and ERA (2.39) since the All-Star break. AMAZING.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Read this on the Braves official site. Looks like Bennett's pickin up right where he left off. I dread seeing him back on the roster.
Tidbits
Infielder Omar Infante, who fractured his left hand on May 20, took live batting practice for the first time on Sunday. After returning to the clubhouse from the batting cage, Infante received a round of applause from his teammates to commemorate the occasion. ... Right-handed pitchers Jeff Bennett (broken left hand) and Buddy Carlyle (upper back strain) both made rehab appearances Saturday night at Triple-A Gwinnett. Making his first rehab assignment, Bennett allowed two runs on two hits in one inning, and Carlyle allowed three hits in two innings in his second rehab assignment.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
OUCH!! That loss last night hurt. The look on the Braves players' faces said it all. I think they were all in disbelief when Gload hit the homerun. Soriano has been nasty lately and I really wasn't expecting to lose after Anderson hit the go-ahead homer in the 9th. He just didn't have his stuff last night, as was evident by the leadoff walk. I think that loss was the dagger in our division hopes, being 8 GB now. At least the Rockies lost so we're still only 3 GB in the wildcard, but that would have been a big win against a team that's right there with us in the standings. I wasn't really expecting a sweep in the series but was hoping for 2 out of 3, so there's still a chance for that I suppose. It will be tough to bounce back from that one though.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I don't blame the loss on Soriano but the "short" umpire. He threw 3 pitches to Ross that should've been strikes that were called balls...I'm partly surprised Bobby didn't get tossed.
It's sad that JJ couldn't get a win - he's been pitching phenominal and doesn't have anything to show it.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

I read on mlbtraderumors.com that the Braves inquired about Sanchez from the Pirates earlier this week. Unless they were planning to move Prado, I don't really understand why they would be interested in acquiring him. I would much rather have Prado than Sanchez right now anyway. I think we need a middle reliever or two. We're getting Infante back soon so I don't really see the need for another infielder. The only move I would be interested in, aside from a reliever, would be a deal for Dye but I know that's not happening. I don't think we can afford his $11 million salary and the White Sox probably aren't throwing in the towel yet.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I was watching the game on my slingbox and turned it off to go workout after the HR. I couldn't believe it when I got back and saw they lost.
If they used Hudson in the pen, he could provide a big arm there or move another starter there. They have some options and even could trade 1 starter and still be fine, even for 2-3 years.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Suddenly things aren't looking so great, especially with the Dodgers coming to town over the weekend. We needed a couple of these Marlins games. Will it be too late by the time Hudson and Infante are activated?Comment

I'm going to be disappointed if you don't something. I know Infante's coming back but we need power, not another high average bat.
Also, can we please trade Gonzalez?Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
