Probably not too much to get excited or optimistic over, but the Braves seem to be winning every game in spring training...They're actually first in the grapefruit league standings.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine. -
Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
even if it is spring training its always great to be winning games to help get that winning mentality. they should all be positive (and finally healthy) heading into the year and hopefully can put that horrible 08 year behind them. plus looking at the april schedule for the braves, they have a great opportunity to jump out early with some wins, as they play the nationals 6 times, marlins 3, pirates 3 and reds 3. that's key though, they gotta come out of the gates strong with that weak schedule.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I think that Acosta is more expendable. Bennett is a good reliever being able to long relief and set-up. Also, Campillo is flexible by being a spot starter or even in the rotation. We need to swap Acosta and O'Flaherty for another lefty reliever.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
i actually hope campillo doesnt go. for the most part last year he was effective when called upon. i see bennett had another rough outing in tonight's spring game. even though it is spring he has an 11 ERA so im not too sure what to think of that.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
I hope it's one or two of those guys and not Carlyle. Buddy has paid his dues and I hope he makes the team as our long reliever. He deserves it probably more than anyone else in that bullpen. However he has been very impressive this spring and hasn't given up a run yet so he probably has the highest trade value but I hope we keep him.Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Now granted I haven't had the chance to watch him in spring training but I don't believe Schafer will be ready for for the big leagues until at least late May/June - he still needs some time in AAA. I was looking at his spring training stats and even though he has a high batting avg. and OPB he has a lot of K's. Out of 48 ABs he has 13 strikeouts which I feel is very alarming.
This is spring training so some of the pitchers aren't putting the full effort so it's safe to assume he'd have a lot more Ks in the regular season...Again, that's my line of thinking but he's a good player (who also got suspended) and the Braves can't afford to stunt his development.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Yeah, I read about this deal between the Braves and Tigers earlier this afternoon. What's the deal with the Braves wanting to deal Josh Anderson? Was it a case where there was a crowded outfield at Atlanta and Anderson became the odd man out? I know the guy is fast, but can he hit or at least get on base on a regular basis? I don't want to go through watching another Nook Logan.
And can we have Jair Jurrjens back?

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
meh...I personally would have liked to see Anderson in CF and Schafer in the minors getting a little more seasoning. Alot of things need to go right for our outfield to be successful. Too many question marks in my opinion. Will Francoeur turn things around this season? Will Schafer's good performance this spring carry over into the regular season? Will G. Anderson be healthy?Comment

Re: 2009 Atlanta Braves
Chipper to play his entire career with the Braves after signing a 3-year contract extension. As a Braves fan who has been following the team since '91 I couldn't be more happy. Thank god this happened after the whole Smoltz debacle. We didn't need a repeat of that with Chipper.
