Some credit to Wilson and Morgan too. Wilson after that clutch hit in game 1 went 4 for 5 yesterday, and i didnt expect Morgan to play at all to start the season is 6 for 15 to start the season.
    Here we go Steelers
    Lets go Pens
    Hail to Pitt
    Lets go Bucs

Yeah, I think it would be unfair to assume Nyjer can hit around .300, but if he at least plays better in the OF (he made a great catch today in the L) and can get some walks, he should at least be able to be competent as a 4th OFer once Cutch gets up to the MLB.

Tough loss today. Not sure why Burnett was brought in to face the right-handed batters, but Ohlendorf looked OK. For a sinkerball pitcher he gave up too many fly balls and really didn't get many Ks (not to mention I thought he threw harder) but he still pitched effectively.

Carpenter was really friggin' good today, and if he stays healthy then it becomes more reasonable to expect a two-horse race in the Central.

      I'll take a split though.

I'll take .280 from Morgan and be completely happy about it. I'm not really sold on Brandon Moss/Hinske or whoever is playing right. I would rather have cutch fill in at right than take morgan out of L.

Moss deserves a fair chance in RF. Nyjer will drop off, there's no way he'll hit .300 or anywhere close to it. He's simply not that good, he's just a benchplayer for the most part. McCutchen will be starting in left or right by the end of the season.

I think Nyjer would still be better suited as a 4th OFer. He's another Rajai Davis, which is totally fine since you need someone like that, but should not be starting and hitting in the 1 or 2 hole.

I agree that Brandon Moss has a large hole in his swing, but he needs a chance to hit for some power.

I think Nyjer will have a solid year. He has hit around .300 consistantly both MLB and MiLB. I look for him to hit around .290 this year. for the buccos sake I hope he continues this hot streak he is on

Did you see him bull over the cathcer today, haha, that was sweet. Thats the hockey player in him.

other Pirates news: Bryan Morris, one of the Pirates' top pitching prospects, has been placed on the minor league disabled list because of shoulder inflammation.

Starting pitching has been really surprising so far. Every pitcher has looked solid. Their offense is struggling hard though. The LaRoche Bros need to start hitting or else this lineup is going to be really bad.

Wow. Duke looked real good. We are either tearing it up at bat or not even showing up. Way to leave like 24 runners on base. However, I cant complain. They are playing decent which is nice.

The Dodgers have traded switch-hitting outfielder Delwyn Young to the Pittsburgh Pirates for two players to be named later.

I dont think so, hes out of options. The pirates have his rights for another 4 years. Looks like hes here to stay for a while. He was a pretty good prospect, lets hope he reaches his potential. Delwyn can play 2B and a little 3B and primarily OF, so that means Luis Cruz is likely to go to AAA.

Man, shutting out that RED HOT Marlins lineup is a very impressive feat. Hats off to Ross Ohlendorf and the Pirates. They also put 8 runs up on what has been a good pitching staff so far this year. That was a very impressive win last night.

They've gotten off to starts like this before recently, so you don't want to be too optimistic, but I like what I'm seeing. Their pitching staff hasn't looked this good since the 90's. From top to bottom, you feel as if you can get a W from any pitcher in their rotation in any game. That's something they really need, too, since they don't have much of anything in the farm when it comes to pitching. It's either this rotation succeeds, or they're really set back.
