    2009 Minnesota Twins

Hopefully we can get more of a dialogue going here than last year.

It looks like we have essentially the same team coming back this year, with one exception: we are about to sign Joe Crede. We have 4 guys who have the potential to hit 20+ HRs for the Twins now in Morneau, Cuddyer, Crede and Kubel.

I am very worried about our bullpen though. The only moves we made were not re-signing the Chipmunk (Reyes) and bringing in Luis Ayala. Ugh that does nothing for me. Hopefully Jose Mirajes will continue with the potential he showed late last year and step into the 8th inning role.

Crede is going to be a Twin. 1 year, $2.5 Mil., could make up to $7 Mil.

Cuddyer will never hit close to 20 HR's again in his career.

        Re: 2009 Minnesota Twins

This years looking pretty promising. Once again, no one thinks we can win the division and we once again will. I laugh at the fact every year is an overhyped team (this year is the Indians) in the AL Central. Look at the Tigers last year for instance. They were favorites and look what the Twins did without Santana/Hunter. The Twins in the recent years haven't been labeled "favorites" and I kind of like it that way. This year I see us winning the division and winning the World Series (In my dreams, but realistically I see them possibly winning first round). If Crede gets healthy, we are going to be one dangerous team to watch. Our pitching has came along and Delmon is looking great! Hopefully he fits into our expectations and we will be tough to beat.

Sounds like Mauer isn't going to be ready for opening day. Will be a platoon of Mike Redmond and either Jose Morales or Drew Butera (Hopefully Morales). Hopefully Mauer won't miss more than a week or two...

Your boys simply ran into a Juggernaut tonight! Sorry about that, I hope the Mariners take it easier on you tomorrow.

                  Hey Twinkies...

I just read this article about my favorite Twinkie - Mike Cuddyer.

                  http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/column...tim&id=4149888

And then there's Twins outfielder Michael Cuddyer. Eleven years ago, as he was taking a pre-calculus exam in his senior year at Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Va., he was informed that he had been drafted in the first round (ninth overall) by the Twins. He finished the exam; he went to the rest of his classes that day then celebrated later that night.
I went to the same highschool as Mike (bolded), and we grew up in the same neighborhood together too. I was a sophmore when he was a Sr. It just so happens that my next door neighboor was his best friend.

Often times me and my friends would be in my backyard playing "baseball" or "pegball" as we called it...basically it was about 7-9 kids altogether, and the game was baseball except for the fact we used a tennis ball and since there weren't enough players for each position you'd peg someone w/ the ball to get them out.

Cuddyer got me a few times, and lets just say it hurt...

He's always been a cool guy, approachable and kind. The other guy (from our highschool - John Curtice) that Cuddyer mentions in the article who was taken in the first round, I played on 2 little league teams w/ him. He was drafted as a pitcher by the BoSox, and his career quickly flamed out in the minors.

Anyways...The Twins have got a great ballplayer in Cuddy, and he's always a guy I root for.

Sweep!! We took in the whole 3 game series with the Brewers. My son loves the Twins and they became my American League team last year when we moved here. This series meant a lot to me as a Reds fan. Last night was a very fun game to watch live. All the runs came via the long ball.

My son got a bat(Promotion) a BP homerun off the bat of Joe Mauer, a Twins sweep and he ran the bases after the game. It was a very good day.

Welcome to the Twin Cities Jackdog! Let me know if you have any questions on the area.

I am sorry to hear you had to spend a glorious weekend inside the concrete dump that is the Metrodome! It was a great series to be at and watch. Hopefully our starting pitching has turned the corner and will be more reliable. I need to see Baker pitch like that in a few starts to believe that he is pitching up to his potential.

Joe Mauer...wow is all I can say. He is on quite the run. Obviously, he will not continue to hit at this clip, but it would be amazing if he sustained the power streak a bit. I do love that he is in the 2 hole right now. It only makes sense to get Morneau more at bats with one good and one elite OBP guys in front of him.

Thanks man. It was glorious. I was tempted to hit the Saints game and watch some fireworks but couldn't pass on the tickets we were given. We have been here since last June. We live in Lowertown/Mears Park St Paul. We are moving to Minny in July. My wife for the USDA at the Butler Bldg and the new park is right behind her. We are moving to Marquette Place so she can now walk to work and we can walk to the games. YES!!! I love the Skyway system.

God I hate the Dome for baseball. It was nice for the NFL playoffs. Baseball...NO.

Baker pitched great. It would have been nice to see him finish that game off. A lot of Brewer fans at the games. Good fun.

PM me if you ever want to catch a game. I got the hook up with Gophers Basketball,Timberwolves and Twins. We can hit The Bulldog NE or Uptown for some burgers and beer. I spend a lot of time at the new one in Lowertown.

I'm so jealous of all you Minnesotans... I'm usually living up at our cabin in Rush City over summer, but I'm taking classes this summer. Can't wait to get done here at FSU and move up to the cities.

Mauer is a professional hitter, I hope he finishes at .400 this year.
