    Re: 2009 Minnesota Twins

Hey guys...I'm a newbie, so go easy on me.

Now through the use of smilies...a look at the Twins season so far.

Joe Mauer misses the first month of the season.

Kevin Slowey pitches his butt off against the Yankees.
The bullpen (and Glen Perkins) do not.

Bert Blyleven eats a couple worms.

    The Messiah (Joe Mauer) returns.

    The Twins sweep the Brewers.

Then they split the series with the Red Sox.

And now the Twins go to the only place that's a bigger dump than the Metrodome...Tropicana Field.

The Rays are losers of 5 in a row...I say we take at least two out of three this weekend...who's with me?

What a season it has been thus far. This is going to be another season where what we do at the trade deadline, determines how this thing turns out. We need to add a pitcher or too, and possibly another bat. Our offense looks good one game, then the next game we struggle to score runs. Nick Punto needs to be kept on the bench (let Harris start at SS) or released. His defense doesn't make up for his horrible at bats.

        Twins recall Keppel from Triple-A

I doubt he'll make much of an impact, but our bullpen needs a spark. I cannot believe how times haved changed. Usually we have one of the strongest bullpens in the league, and now we're just average. I cannot wait until Pat Neshek returns next season.

If he comes all the way back from his injury, Pat Neshek will probably be our closer in five years.

So what are you fellow Twin' fans thinking? What are your expectations for the final 2 months of the season? Do you think we can pull out the division title, or did we not add enough pieces?

After the Cabrera deal, it would have been nice to nab a reliever too, but they didn't, but at least they tried to grab one.

That being said, I see the Twins finishing second behind the Tigers in the division. (And maybe even third if the White Sux get anything out of Jake Peavy this year.)

This is way late, but we have no shot at the division. The only thing Twins fans have to see, is to enjoy Joe Mauer.
