Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles
I have a soft spot for the Orioles, because my cousin lives right outside Baltimore and she took me to a couple games last year against the Red Sox. In short I saw one of the greatest games of my life, I was there when the O's game back from 9 down after a rain delay to beat the Sox. It was freaking awesome, I said if Markakis gets the winning knock I will buy his jersey after the game, sure enough he get's a double to knock in two I believe and the O's won it!!
I was a Orioles fan for the day, I love Markakis, he is a truly underrated player. And I have never seen a more hyped up rookie then Wieters, signs of him everywhere in that ballpark. Hope ya'll have a great season, and I will definitely be at about 3 games this season. Oh and I love that ballpark, very unique and beautiful. -

O's sign Miggy Tejada to a 1 year deal. Will most likely play 3rd base.

Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles
They still need to get something out of the SS position. I know that Andy is drafting pitching, and it is needed in the AL East, but man, Izturis in just a hole in the line-up. .256 BA and a .294 OBP. I know he is cheap at 2.4 million, but he is at best a stop gap we need to find a youngster or address this next off-season in FA.
I really expect big things out of the O's in 2011, this year I see being more of a tease, hopefully we can get to 81 wins, that would be lovely.
I was stat geeking today. Adam Jones hit .353 against the Yankees, .361 against Tampa and .278 against the Jays. Sadly he hit .219 against Boston.Last edited by N51_rob; 01-25-2010, 03:31 PM.Moderator

Once we get to the playoffs, that place is going to be a madhouse. The new World's Largest Outdoor Insane Asylum as Memorial Stadium used to be.Comment

I was there on May 30 against Detroit, which was Wieters' second game, and it was crazy. The Yard was full, Wieters jersey shirts everywhere, and every time he came up to bat, and when he got his first career hit (triple), the place went nuts.

Anyone know of any good O's fan forums other than Orioles Hangout? That site is great, but the forums have been absolutely destroyed by 2 trolls that for some reason haven't been banned.Comment

"Not wonderment," he said when asked if he was surprising even himself with his hot hand in Virginia's 108-87 victory against Gonzaga on Wednesday night, when he scored a career-best 37 points. "I was just wondering why they didn't play more `D."Comment

Him and that Old#5fan are the resident threadjackers...and it's seriously the SAME stuff regardless of the topic...anti-MacPhail, "we need to sign marquis names", etc. Getting really old. It seems like the people being punished are the ones that call them out (myself included). Real shame because that site is one of the best MLB team fan sites out there and attracts some people either close to the organization or the players. Off the top of my head, Roy Firestone, George Sherrill's brother, David Hernandez's father, Matt Hobgood's uncle, Tony Butler, and Miguel Sano's agent have posted there at one time or another.Last edited by BunnyHardaway; 02-14-2010, 09:50 PM.Comment

Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles
Maybe we can get 8 pages going on the merits of Andino vs. some signing that didn't happen!?! Like how much more value we could have had from Nick Green and his .660ops and crap fielding at short...

Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles
I guess Mark Belanger really sucked
The best part of that guy is that he openly admits to rarely watching O's games. The only times he sees them on TV is when they play Boston, and for the rest he watches that GameCast thing. Amazing how a guy who sees 15-16 games a year can have so many agendas.Comment

I ment to post this last year, but I didn't have a good scanner. Here is a picture of me during one of the fan appercation pregame ceremonies last year at Camden Yards. Got an autographed game worn Felix Pie jersey out of it. As you can see he is a lot smaller than me.

Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles
Here is an excerpt of Cashman’s comments about the O’s rebuilding effort headed by team president Andy MacPhail.
“Andy is doing exactly what Andy does best. He is as sharp as they come. Patience is the biggest key. He made such an astute trade with Seattle and now he has a collection of talent. Getting Adam Jones to play with Markakis was remarkable. Now he has one of the bright young outfields.
“Now he’s filling in, taking advantage of the free agent market to protect his young talent and wait for them to pop.
“I remember a few years back when Tampa Bay was perennially losing. Everyone in the industry was following them and saw all their young talent brewing and slowly getting refined. You don’t know, because prospects are suspects until they declare themselves at the Major League level.
“Andy is doing the same thing. Everybody kind of sees the collection of talent. Players with big tools and high ceiling. When you are athletic and have those kinds of tools, when it all comes together, it comes fast.
“The Orioles are a team that has closed the gap, without a doubt. And Andy is showing the patience. I think their fan base will be very, very pleased. All the sudden, before they know it, they’ll have that foundation in place. They just haven’t seen it pop yet at the Major League level.
“They are doing the right things because they have a baseball guy running it. Their owner Peter Angelos hired a tremendous baseball talent in Andy MacPhail. He’s worth his weight in gold.
“The Oriole way is coming back real quick. I went to high school and college in the DC area, so I know how important the Orioles are to that area. It’s a sleeping giant that will emerge again, I promise you.”
