    Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles

I'm afraid that what Adam Jones is going through is not a slump and is actually reflective on what kind of player he's going to become. Maybe he really is a bum. His stats at his age are similar to Corey Patterson's at the same age, but then again, his stats are also comparable to a young Torii Hunter. Bleh, who knows.

And Wieters, hit a damn extra base hit. I swear all he does is hit weak ground balls. Do something.

Good news down on the farm. Bergesen looked good in his start at Norfolk. He was able to keep his stuff down which is a positive. 7 innings 2 runs 7 hits.

I'm so disgusted by the Orioles right now. I went to the game last night. Was in section 44 (Yankee Territory). I understand that their fans are gonna infultrate the stadium, but as I was walking around the stadium on my way to Boogs I saw that they were selling Yankee hats and t-sirts! It's bad enough these "fans" come to the stadium in droves, but do we really need to make them feel at home while they are here.

I highly doubt that if I went to Yankee stadium I could find an Adam Jones T-shirt for sale inside the ball park. I plan on calling/writing the O's about this. I'm seriously pissed about it.

Yeah, same thing my girlfriend and I saw at the May 2nd game against Boston. They had Red Sox merchandise spread out in several places. It's disgusting.

So this is the first time I've posted in this thread, and I have very few total posts here at OS anyhow, but I figured I'd jump in and share the misery we're all suffering at this point as O's fans.

It seems like only yesterday that I was going to games when I was in high school in 1996 and '97 and we were at the top of the AL East. Man, has it all gone so wrong.

I believe Andy McPhail is the right man for the job as our GM, but I think there are some guys in this organization who have been given chance after chance and simply are not going to get the job done.

I have no confidence at this point in the likes of Jim Johnson and Matt Albers. I know Johnson was sent down a while ago and is having arm trouble, but I never bought into him as a capable back-end reliever just because he had a good run in 2008. He's been shaky for the majority of his career. Albers, to me, is a failed project. Houston realized that and had no problem trading him away in the Tejada deal a few years back. If you look at that trade, Luke Scott was by far the best thing we got out of it, which isn't saying much right now. Dennis Sarfate has never panned out as a reliever and Troy Patton hasn't as a starter, either.

Adam Jones and Nolan Reimold have been huge disappointments thus far this season. I understand that Brain Roberts' injury hurt the offense, but that excuse can only fly for so long before guys must find a way to produce. These are major-league ballplayers, for God's sake.

Garrett Atkins was a waste of money; many baseball analysts said they didn't understand that signing because he is declining. I thought it was premature to say a guy who averaged 20+ HRs and about 100 RBIs a season for 3-4 years was declining because of one bad year, but I was clearly wrong.

It's become really hard to watch these games... I keep trying to find a silver lining...

Would the Orioles do this trade?

                Orioles Receive:
                SP Madison Bumgarner
                SS Brandon Crawford

                Giants Receive:
                CF Adam Jones

                  Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles

There is something very wrong with this organization. Almost every one of our young players has regressed.

                  - Tillman was throwing an 87 mph fastball last night with zero movement.
                  - Matusz is having some control problems.
                  - Bergesen is throwing BP.
                  - Wieters isn't hitting.
                  - Jones isn't hitting as expected, or walking.
                  - Riemold isn't hitting.
                  - Snyder is lost.
                  - Bell is now hitting over 250.

There is something very wrong with our player development. Players take bumps, and regress at times, sure. But every player on the roster?

                    Re: The 2010 Baltimore Orioles

You make a good point about player development and I wouldn't know. But it's getting painful to watch this team. Every game is over by the 3rd inning. I turned on the giants game last night and it was 6-1 in the bottom of the 3rd. I've never been so uninterested in the O's as I am now. I'm usually good for 20 games a season at the yard, this year I will have been to 4 when I go on June 30th for Wieters bobble head and have no real plans to see anymore.

I'm not even mad, I'm shocked, shocked that we could be this bad, with this much young "talent". Adam Jones is by far my favorite, but dude he swings at EVERTHING. How the hasn't he adjusted to the fact that 0-2 no MLB pitcher is gonna throw him anythign to hit. Hell, even at 1-0 they stay low and away with off-speed pitches to him. It's time to adjust. I liked trembly but I mentioned earlier in here he rubbed me the wrong way early this year leaving Matusz in too long in another game that we lost late.

So much of McPhails spending this off-season has been worthless. Gonzalez, Atkins, Millwood. C'mon Andy you are better than that.

Lastly O's fans a big "Hang with em!"
