    So, Alcantara...Baez...Kawasaki...who stays up?

Keep Baez up despite the lack of improvement at the plate? Go with Alcantara who is producing and arguably just as versatile on defense?

Candelario turning heads about a year sooner than expected. What to do with him? Is he destined to be traded?

I always thought it was for sure that Baez is on the 25 man this year. I like Alcantara but he got off to a horrid start last year. I want Kawasaki to make the team purely for entertainment purposes. I have no care in the world what he hits or how he plays.

If they don't keep Alcantara, and he translates this production to AAA, he's got to come up...

Between Zobrist, Baez, Russell, Soler, Schwarber there's too many question marks re: production and/or youth to leave a guy with his versatility in AAA...assuming at least one of these guys is going to start rather slowly.

I believe in the guys mentioned above, but think AA has earned a shot at being the next man up, at least.

Yeah I can agree with that. He got that shot last year and didn't do too well. He then performed well in AAA last year but never got called back up.

I haven't gotten to see any ST games this year, so I only have stats to rely upon. Those can be very misleading so it's tough for me to make an informed opinion. Everything I've read/heard has been about Maddon juggling PT for Soler/Baez, and nothing about Alcantara. I've read more about LaStella returning from injury than about AA's chances to make the OD roster.

I'd love to see him get another chance though. He's a legit 20 HR 30 SB guy with a good glove.

Baez isn't even a lock to hit his weight.

Still better than Alcantara by a mile and he can play several different positions not at a gold glove level then pretty close. Hasn't it basically been finalized that Baez is going to be their utility guy with getting several starts during the year?

Baez would be more valuable as a trade piece than he is riding the pine and getting "occasional" playing time. Some GMs might actually think he still has potential so go ahead and fleece one of them for a pitcher.

I'm fine with keeping the depth...

but they could get something nice for Soler + Baez + X

The depth will be an asset, though. Long season, lots of youth, lots of streaks. Maddon's task will be finding the hot hand among the 4-5 rotational type players... Baez on a 4-game tear? I'll take it. We could see a couple of those this year.

I'm hoping for the most epic of platoons in Schwarber / Soler...

How's this blast from the past - Matt Murton just homered for the Cubs. Time warp to 2006?

Cubs 2-0 for the first time since 1995. It's been a while.
