With two spots open in the rotation, who do you think makes it out of Bonderman, Garland, Ramirez, Maurer, or Beavan?

Garland has tore it up. Bonderman is going for the bullpen I thought?

Not sad about Garland leaving camp. Much like Larry Stone, I want them to save the last two spots of the rotation for the young guys. Bonderman will hopefully take an AAA assignment, leaving the final two spots to Beavan/Ramirez/Maurer. My guess is Beavan and Maurer... The kid has won a spot in the rotation.

What do you guys think of Bay getting a spot over Wells (if that happens)?

I definitely want Bay on the MLB team, and if that means Wells has to go to AAA, so be it. I think Bay will have a very successful year.

I think Wells is out of options though.

Where are my M's fans at?

2-2 through four games, felt this was a pretty decent series. We got taken to the woodshed the last two games, but that's baseball.

Maurer looked a bit awestruck today, but it was his first start. He'll learn quickly that he can't leave pitches up in the zone like that.

Morse was well worth the acquisition. I liked Jaso last year, but Morse is a legit 40+ home run threat. The rest of the offense seems to be sputtering along, but they will get things going. Too much improvement with this offense to not see a marked improvement very soon.

Huge night in Fresno tonight as the Rainiers exploded to a 9-1 win.

Zunino (2x4, HR, 3B, 2 RBI) and Hultzen (6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K) had huge nights. I think the people freaking out about Hultzen's command issues last year got a small piece of humble pie. I know it's only one start, but games like this are more the norm for him compared to what he experienced in Tacoma last season. I have always held true to my belief that he has legit #2 stuff, with an outside shot of being an ace.

Zunino is just a stud. He is going to make Morales expendable when he comes up in June and the M's move Montero to DH full-time. I like Morales, but he might end up being a nice trade chip as the deadline approaches later this summer.

If he is ripping the cover off of the ball in Tacoma, I hope the M's don't hold Zunino back for the sake of not starting his service time clock. I understand the reasoning, but have never liked it. This is an organization that needs to garner some interest to reignite the fan base. If he is raking, let the kid come get his rightful place on the big club's roster.

If he's hitting he'll be there. Back to Safeco where they forget how to hit.

This is the year they are "a lock" to win the World Series, right?

Really liking what Morales and Morse have brought to the team so far. But some of these young guys have to start developing. Ackley doesn't look ANY better. Smoak isn't hitting well again, but he's at least drawing some walks and working the count. Also pretty concerned about the pitching so far after Felix/Iwakuma.

All in all though, wasn't a terrible road trip to start the year. Just need to gain some momentum against Houston.

I am not as worried about Smoak as I am Ackley.

The kid just looks lost at this level. It's not just hit numbers, either. He just looks bad. He does not pass the eye test for me right now. I know he has some balls well that have found gloves, but man, he has a long way to go. He doesn't look confident and I am really starting to worry about that whole "bust" label. He needs to show something very soon. With Franklin in the wings and guys like Miller and Romero in the mix soon, he simply does not have the luxury of time.

Zunino with another monster night. 3 for 4, another bomb, 4 RBI's and a double. He is now hitting .500 with 3 home runs and 12 runs batted in on the year. Not a bad OPS clip of 1.901, either.

I was at the game last night and the Astros were practically giving Ackley the 6 hole, he really needs to take advantage of what's given to him... Would I rather have Ackely driving balls to the gap? Of course, but sometimes you just have to settle for the single the other way, which is something that Michael Saunders has realized and its helped him immensely.
