      Re: 2013 Seattle Mariners

What do you guys think about Nick Franklin winning ROY? No one has really stood out, and if he can stay around the .300 mark, he could sneak in and take it. Right now, the front runner is probably Chris Archer from TB

Brad Miller has impressed me in the lead off spot.

I hope we trade Morales and Morse and put Seager hitting 3rd and Ibanez hitting 4th.

Justin Smoak has been on a hot steak lately, I'd like to see him everyday for the rest of the season, playing 1st base and in the 5-hole

Zunino is still adjusting, but still obviously has amazing upside and should catch 5-6 days a week.

Saunders and Ackley are in the same boat, bottom of the order hitters, with top of the order upside. They can both play LF/CF and Saunders can also play RF. they both hopefully play OF every day and keep Bay/Chavez as 4th/5th OFs. I also thin we should trade Guti when/if he returns. Just take a 30-year old guy in AAA for all I care, lol.

The only spot we don't have a guy for is RF. I hope we plug in Romero in LF and put Saunders in RF and let Ibanez DH for the rest of the season. I can't wait for August, as that will be when we see the direction of the team.

I hope we trade Saunders (the pitcher) and Harang for whatever we can get. I want to call up Maurer, Ramirez (already done) and have them be the #3-4 spot in the rotation and just let Beavan and Noesi make the rest of the starts for the rest of the season. Keep Walker and Paxton in AAA and maybe let Hultzen come up if he can get healthy and dominate AAA before September.

In the bullpen, we've been getting interest on Oliver Perez, Tom Wilhelmsen, Charlie Furbush, and even Brian Moran (AAA Reliever) and I hope we deal Perez and get a young, almost MLB ready guy we can call up in September.

I'm lookin forward to the next month, and once we get to August, I'll be looking forward to seeing guys I've been waiting to see all year in the bigs.

        Re: 2013 Seattle Mariners

I think as a whole the team is definitely on the rise.

I'm all for trading Morse, Morales, Perez and Ryan.

Morse just doesn't fit with this team, IMO. Morales will test the free agent waters and we could probably get a decent return for him from a team like the Yankees who are running out Lyle Overbay. Perez is playing above his head right now and is expendable. Ryan won't fetch hardly anything at all but I'd like to see him go to a contender. I wouldn't hate them keeping him around either, as Nick Franklin and Brad Miller both claim his tutelage is invaluable.

Miller and Franklin, I think, are the real deal. With a big second half, Franklin definitely has a shot at AL ROY. This is a weak crop of rookies in the AL this year and I think if he can put together a season line of .280/10-15 HR, he will win it.

Zunino is a stud. His bat will catch up.

Justin Smoak is turning a corner. His at-bats just look different. It's just not his stat line that makes me think that. He has made adjustments and I hope he can carry it.

Ackley still has a of work to do, but I am a long ways away from giving up on him.

I hope they extend Seager now. The kid is one of the better young hitters in the game.

The rotation will be in good hands. Taijuan Walker is dominating in Tacoma (SSS be damned). I'm all for keeping him in Tacoma for the rest of the year and letting him compete for a spot in the rotation next year. They need to figure out what's wrong with Hultzen - I wouldn't be surprised if they shut him down for the year. Shoulder injuries are devastating and they need to figure out what the hell is going on.

It's an exciting time to be a fan. This team still won't compete for a playoff spot for at least a couple of years, but at least there is hope.

Nah, they're still my team and love their future. That was just pathetic yesterday.

Still very disgruntled with ownership and the heat that was on Jack Z prior to this recent surge. His staff is doing an outstanding job building this club from the ground up.

I want Z to finish what he started but you have to admit that he has gotten fleeced big time on the trades he made... The Morse/Jaso trade is looking like another flop and it is illuminated even more when you look at our catcher situation this year -- which forced the club's hand in rushing Zunino and putting him in the line up six days per week.

I think he is a great mind when it comes to youth but his MLB roster construction/FA signings/trades have left very much to be desired... I am sorry but I don't think he has been even passable in that regard.

Don't want him fired in the least, though... I love the future but honestly, I hope he becomes better at handling the big club in the very near future.

All in all, I think he had earned two more years but I do think it's too close for comfort.

I would be pissed beyond belief if they fired him and started over with another GM, though.

I was so excited watching this game, then I see three straight errors (1 error, two that SHOULD'VE been errors) and it all goes down the drain. It's still early but this kid looks like the real deal, as advertised.

Been a M's fan since the Jr days... Who do the M's target this offseason?

Gotta imagine their big target is Ellsbury or Choo... And a RH power bat.

                                That's true.

I would really like to see the M's keep Morales then add Ellsbury or Choo, Corey Hart and a SP like Josh Johnson.

Could be a nice lineup with those additions.

                                Ellsbury/Choo
                                Franklin

                                Saunders
                                Zunino

Could also have a nice rotation

                                Hernandez
                                Iwakuma
