Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
This will probably go about as well when I said last year I wish we would build like the Royals, but why not.
Gardenhire was on the Padres short list and they went a different direction. I'd really love to have him next year instead of Freddie. His teams played small ball, played good defense, and he's got experience grooming a young staff. Couldn't think of a better guy to bring in honestly.Golf: Bubba
MLB: Braves
Nascar: Smoke
NBA: Heat
NCAA: Florida & Miss State
NFL: Whichever team currently has the most of my favorite college players
NHL: Caps
Tennis: The Joker & Sloane Stevens
WWE: Dean Ambrose
Misc: Anybody wearing a Team USA jerseyComment

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
My problems with Gardenhire: only a .507 career winning percentage. Only averaged 66 wins his last 4 seasons, and they won 83 his first season gone. 6-21 all time in the postseason. He's not an improvement.

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
Didn't they pretty much sell off his best talent every year Gardy was there? They brought up and developed a lot of kids in his time there and by the time he left weren't like all of them gone? That was why it was such a big deal when they paid Mauer, because they literally hadn't done that the entire time Gardy was there.
In 2014 They Scored 715 Runs and Allowed 777
In 2015 They Scored 696 Runs and Allowed 700
The difference was literally the pitching staff. And by difference I mean different players.
2014 team ERA was 4.57
2015 team ERA was 4.07
Don't get me wrong, I think it was time for a change in Minnesota when Gardy was let go, and Molitor did a hell of a job this year, but are you really telling me you think a guy with multiple playoff appearances a Manager of the Year award, multiple manager of the year runner ups isn't an upgrade over Freddie Gonzalez? There was a reason he was in the running for MOTY so many times and it was because he was doing more with less than everybody else in the AL.Golf: Bubba

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
That's exactly what I'm telling you. Maybe he was overrated. Maybe he didn't adapt. But they did pay Joe Mauer, and did nothing. In over 2000 games as a manager, he's 29 games over .500. I'm 1300, Fredi is 37. Neither has a good playoff record. You can't tell me you think Fredi has always had a good roster. This year was bad. Going into this year, Fredi averaged 89.5 wins a year for the Braves and had never finished worse than 2nd. They're about the same level. So what's the point of firing him just to bring in another mediocre manager? Doesn't solve a thing.
And Manager of the Year doesn't mean a ton. Fredi came in the top 3 twice. Including 2013.

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
Don't know if this has been posted or not, but found this interesting, especially with how frustrated so many seemed to be with Freddie's bullpen usage this season.

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
ESPN reporting we have resigned Pierzynski. Probably not much of a surprise here since the other 2 catcher who played games for us this year, couldn't get over the Mendoza line.Golf: Bubba

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
I am surprise that A.J. signed. He is more than likely to start. He said he wasn't ready to be some DH anyways. I rather seen us sign Wieters or Lucroy to a 4yr deal. At least we would have a catcher, while developing one in the minors.Comment

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
Also ESPN Buster Olney has mentioned the Angels have shown interest in SS Andrelton Simmons. He has a long term contract in place. Very friendly compared to what the Angels deal out. If the Braves move Simmons, especially to the Angels. Oh Boy! I don't what they would get. Simmons probably be better off anyways. He'll have a consistent batting lineup spot.Comment

Re: 2015 Atlanta Braves
You're right and everyone on the Brewers is available. I was just saying he isn't a free agent. So you need to trade for him and take whatever his current contract is. And that's only 2 years, FWIW.Comment
