post what you think the twins field will look like at this point:

    Here is mine:

    C-Joe Maurer
    1B-Justin Morneau(spelling?)
    2B-Michael Cuddyer
    SS-Bartlett
    3B-Terry Tiffee
RF-Lew Ford (Jones will probably be gone)
    CF-Torri Hunter
    LF-Shannon Stewart
    DH-Matt LeCroy
    Colorado Avalanche (NHL)
    Denver Nuggets (NBA)
    Green Bay Packers (NFL)
    Iowa Hawkeyes (NCAA)
    Minnesota Twins (MLB)
    Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA)

I hear that Terry Ryan is pretty high on Bartlett, so that's a major factor. The Twins will low-ball Rivas, as they should, and if he walks......no big deal.

        Here's what i see:

        LF-Shannon Stewart
        RF-Lew Ford
        C-Joe Mauer
        1B-Justin Morneau
        CF-Torii Hunter
        3B-Corey koskie
        DH-Matthew Lecroy
        2B-Michael Cuddyer
        SS-Jason Bartlett

I think Tiffee makes the team as a back-up corner infielder, and Punto is the Utility man. Maybe even Ojeda on the bench. Restovich is probably the 4th outfielder, with Michael Ryan as a long shot.

Right now i would not plan on Corey Koskie being at 3B next season, the Tigers are expected to meet with him and the Reds and Devil Rays may have some interest as well. And we all know Carl Pohlad will not get into a bidding war with anyone. Tiffe looked pretty good in his september callup, so if he does replace Koskie i don't think the lineup will suffer at all.

I don't think it will become a bidding war for Koskie. He has a "fair" number in his head, according to him. If the Twins meet that number, he'll be back. He has strong ties to the organization, and this is is home. He's very active in the local community, as well. The negotiations are going well, and it looks like the Twins have upped their offer. I think he'll be back.

I've heard the Twins have offered a 2 year $7.5 million contract. His previous contract was 3 years/$6.2 million with last year being the option year in which he made $4.5 million. Koskie just got done building a house in the suburban Twin Cities and he said he wants to stay in Minnesota so unless he gets an outragous offer, I think he'll stay. Here are the details of his previous contract by the way.
                    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    4 years/$10.5 million with option
                    2001: $0.5M
                    2002: $2.1M
                    2003: $3.4M
                    2004: Team option $4.5M or $0.2M buyout
                    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    Minnesota Vikings
                    Minnesota Twins
                    Chicago Bulls
                    UNC Tar Heels

The Twins signed backup catcher Mike Redmond a few days ago so it looks like Blanco won't be coming back with the Twins next year. I personally would rather have Redmond because he'll hit for 80 points higher and will still play good defense, albeit not as good as Blanco. Besides, Mauer should be catching 120 games this year assuming his knee doesn't act up. [knocks on wood]

Not too much. I know his glove is going to be worse than Guzman. His bat will probably be better, and he is a better base stealer. Still, if he makes the team, we're looking at a 9th place hitter that is going to make mistakes. With the signing of Castro, i'm not sure Bartlett is going to break camp with the team. He won't be on the bench. He'll start or begin the season at AAA.
