to follow up, moving hitting to 70 is making the game WAY more fun again, and leaving everything else at 75. The problem is, it became a bit too easy again, so for the first time I'll move in single digit increments each game and see where I finalize. I'll go up to 71 next game and so on..

Another note is that as you play, especially if you're not a veteran of the series you will probably move up as you play because you'll get a better feel for it over time until you sort of plateau.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Ego setting
no, not every game. Typically you just dial it in until you are having fun every single game and it's competitive. With #1, everything at 80-85 was my sweet spot. This game is 'harder' so 75 is my sweet spot, but hitting I had to lower a tad because I just wasn't hitting with any power.

I would like to try your ego formula. What current formula are you using for batting, speed, fielding, and pitching?

Re: Ego setting
What are you guys playing on for SMB3? This one seems a lot harder than 2. I am at 65 for now, but I plan to keep pumping it up as I can.Comment

Re: Ego setting
This is definitely a lot harder/less forgiving than 2.
I’m at 80/99/85/99, but I’ve gotten a few games where I’ve lost by like 20. The main problem with this game right now is the CPU ain’t ever offering outside of the strike zone with less than two strikes (at least not at this difficulty).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

How do you field on that high of a setting? I'm having the WORST time with judging fly balls.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Ego setting
Anyway, I just lost a game 5-3. I was ahead 3-1 at one point, and their two go-ahead runs came on my first wild pitch as well as a double in the gap where I had combined throwing powers of 70s and 60s. If they were both 90s, I get the person out. No matter since I never scored a fourth run to say "That could've been the one!" but those are the kinds of games I'm getting now. I may lower batting to 75 and pitching to 80 at some point soon.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Ego setting
So I tried to play all 99 Ego, and here was the result...
To be honest, I held my own in pitching. Those two errors really destroyed me, plus two fielder's choices where everyone was safe.
I didn't realize that 99 hitting meant the cursor doesn't move at all. I legitimately had no chance. I only fouled off one ball, and made contact four other times, all into outs. Besides one walk, every other swing was a miss. I even whiffed on two bunts, and I was facing a <50 speed pitcher!
Yeah, not doing that again for a while, for the sake of my own personal confidence.
EDIT: Looking at this box score, this game also tracks a statistic incorrectly. If you substitute a batter who has two strikes on him/her and the substitute strikes out, the strikeout should be credited to the initial batter. According to the stats on here, they gave it to the substitute (M. Osuna).Last edited by Blzer; 05-25-2020, 12:53 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Ego setting
Wow, 23 K's!I did see you managed to break up the perfect game with a walk however.
It seems the pitch speeds are faster with a higher hitting ego, is that correct? How did the AI pitch you? Did they nibble more, or ?Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Ego setting
I wouldn't necessarily say they nibbled all the time, but I just couldn't hit it! If this game had a lower batting camera and a better pressure-sensitive check-swinging system, I think I could've done okay. With this though, there was just no way.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Ego setting
I know it's working as planned. I wish they altered on it, personally (or as I say, "improved" on it). I need a trigger as I do in real life, because I'm always in swing mode until I'm not. That doesn't mean I always check swing in real life, but that means I load my hands and I'm prepared to trigger as needed, even as the slightest flinch.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
