I know. I really do think Charlotte is going to be a team to watch out for over the next few years because of Major. I remember when he was a former XU assistant under Thad Matta. You all have a great coach.

Well #6 Rhode Island, #9 Dayton, #10 LaSalle, and #12 St Joes advance to the quarters in Atlantic City on Fri.

            Dayton faces in-state rival Xavier
            St Joes draws Duquesne
            Rhode Island gets Richmond
            LaSalle plays Temple

Need all the higher seeds to win on Fri.

The bank shot 3 that La Salle hit to tie the game in the first OT was ridiculous.

I saw that. Kind of felt that La Salle was going to win that game somehow. It was fate.

I'm worried about X playing Dayton again. Tough to beat a team 3 times in one season and the first two games were close. Plus, X hasn't played the greatest in this thing since it moved to AC. We'll see what happens. I know on Friday I'll be parked in front of a tv somewhere at noon on a long lunch break!

Couple of things: 1) Congrats to Temple and Richmond for winning a game in the Madness. Xavier laid an egg. Very disappointing. 2) Congrats to Richmond for making it to the Sweet 16. They are carrying the torch this year. I'll be pulling for the Spiders big time!

News of note from a Xavier forum: Per Juwan Staten's Facebook page, he is transferring from Dayton. This is a big a loss for the Flyers and I wonder if it is a nail in Brian Gregory's coffin.

With the departure of Staten, Spearman, and Coach BG, Dayton's basketball program is going to be set back a few years, at least. I'm still amazed that all of that happened.

Good question and I don't have an answer. It crossed my mind today though when I found out BG was leaving. From what I've heard, the upperclassmen, especially Chris Johnson, didn't get along with Staten at all. Supposedly those two got into it at halftime of the A-10 championship game. Staten probably won't be back but who knows. Many fellow X fans have thrown some speculative destinations out there, like Clemson because Brownell probably talked to him while he was in HS in the Dayton area since he was coaching Wright State at the time. Don't know if Brownell actively recruited him or what though.

Good for both schools honestly. Should be an excellent series..

Last week, Memphis Roar reported on Twitter that both Xavier and Wisconsin were, according to a source, looking to sign a deal on a new home-and-home series starting next season on the road. Adding at least one of these games was essential in order to shore up the Tigers’ non-conference home schedule for next season. Mission accomplished.

Less than a full seven days later, Memphis Roar has learned that the ink is now dry on a new home-and-home basketball series between the University of Memphis and Xavier University starting with the 2011-2012 season. The series will open in Memphis, TN at the FedExForum and will rotate back to Cincinnati, OH the following year. While dates for each of the two games have not been set, the series is done. Xavier head coach Chris Mack tweeted earlier this afternoon confirming our report:

I saw that today. I'm really excited. I think it's a series that is a little overdue. I think X, Butler, Memphis, and Gonzaga should be playing each other every year somehow. X has Gonzaga, among others, at home next season and Memphis and Butler on the road.

                                That is rather disappointing.

However, I am ready for some A-10 basketball!

X and Temple are the favorites with everyone else battling for 3 thru 14. As always, everybody needs to take care of OOC wins. Lots of great opportunities for the A-10 schools to get some big wins. I hope X and Temple win the bulk of theirs to help themselves, and the league, out.

Tu Holloway is going to miss X's first game against Morgan State for a rules violation. He committed the heinous crime of playing a game in more than one summer league this year.
