Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
Worse than FAMU and Central Connecticut State?
Syracuse I never understood why people have them in as a lock, they had tons of bad losses. Illini had a 26 RPI I have no idea why people are shocked we got in, we should not have been even considered on the bubble. Stanford definetly didn't deserve to be in. Arkansas don't have a big problem with, but I thought FSU was more deserving.Comment

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
That is exactly what I was telling a friend of mine the other day. Why not make the play-in game into a play-in day? What a great kickoff to the tourney.
(btw, the reason against it is that it would basically add 4 major/mid-major slots, and eliminate three more #16 seeds on play-in day. Not great for business when you think about it.)Comment

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
18 wins............that's a tragedy. How about taking a team with 4 or 5 more wins than they had. Stanford lost 4 of their last 5. They don't deserve to be in and neither does Arkansas. They had a losing record in their conference.Comment

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
Why do people complain about Stanford?
I can see why someone complaining about Illinois, Arkansas.. but Stanford? This is the same team that beat UCLA, Oregon, USC, Texas Tech, @ Virginia, and Washington State. The RPI is really bad (65), but the SOS and the quality wins are good. Would you have preferred them to schedule teams like Montana, The Citadel, Savannah State, etc.. those cupcakes to boost their win total?
Stanford is much better then what they are on paper. I bet they could beat Louisville.XBox 360 GT: XFactor416Comment

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
I just don't see how Tx Tech gets in ahead of K State. KSU assblasted Tech on Friday, and finished ahead of them in conference.
There is some bad seeding at the bottom, but for the most part I didn't think it was so bad overall. Good NIT field.Comment

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
Please, until the committee shows any consistency in factoring the timing of losses (Tennessee of last year), the "record in last ___ games" argument means nothing to me.
They've played and beaten many quality opponents, but now you look to penalize them because they didn't happen to load their schudule with cupcakes to boost their record.I write things on the Internet.

Oklahoma State had some major wins as well. Furthermore, the Cowboys only lost one game at full strength (Boggan still has a broken bone in his wrist, but we won't count that).
I think there is merit to how teams are playing at the end of the season, mostly since that's when the tourney is played. Stanford rode in on the league RPI.Comment

I agree with everything you said there, except calling Montana a cupcake. Why do people complain about Stanford?

Montana, a cupcake? No way. BTW, Stanford played at Montana last season, and lost. They also played in 2002 and 2003 (won in 2003, lost in 2002)."You should only drink to enhance your social skills." -Barney GumbleComment

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
I haven't read through this thread to see if there has been anything posted about the Xavier bashing that Jay Bilas and company were pulling, so forgive me if someone grabbed Sean Miller's comments about it from somewhere else. Little post I copied from the blog of Dustin Dow, who is the Xavier beat writer for the Cincinnati Enquirer:
I'm really starting to like Sean Miller a lot. He's really grown a pair this season dealing with his players, the media, and standing up for the school and its conference.Miller on Bilas, et al
You probably know Jay Bilas played at Duke, which is in the ACC.
Bilas was leading the charge tonight on ESPN that Xavier did not deserve to be in the tournament ahead of the likes of Florida State and Syracuse.
Miller countered by saying that Xavier was one of only six teams from a non-BCS school to get an at-large bid, which set an example for how unique Xavier is in college basketball, but also established a bit of a scary reality for XU.
"Jay Bilas in particular, is coming from the ACC, and I know him," Miller said. "When I was at N.C. State, I’d say, let someone come down here and play in the ACC. I can flip it, and tell you that a lot of those teams, if they went through the Atlantic 10 wouldn’t be 13-3. You’d be surprised at who they’d lose to."
He had more to say:
“I heard a guy say we lost to Duquesne,” Miller said. “Boston College lost to Duquesne…It is very difficult to go through an entire conference undefeated, and if you’re going to pinpoint our losing to this team or that team, then you’re asking us to go 16-0. If that’s the case, just shut the NCAA Tournament off and have it for the top six conferences.”Last edited by SlimKibbles; 03-11-2007, 09:55 PM.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: Who got left out, that should have been in?
I really thought Bilas was out of line going after Xavier. He was acting like Xavier was the team that cost Drexel and Syracuse their bids.
Look no further than Arkansas, Illinois and Stanford at teams that took bids before XU did.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment
