Every time UConn looks ready to go in front, G'twn goes on a mini run.Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Hoyas have got a firm grip on this one now. I don't know whether to be impressed by G'twn or underwhelmed by UConn.Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
Definitely seems like an off-game for UConn, but don't sell Georgetown short, they're playing a hell of a game. As Bilas says, UConn looks inexperienced and rattled on offense and they aren't taking care of the basketball. UConn's perimeter defense, primarily off the ball, looks very shaky. Granted they're playing against a very unique scheme in the Princeton offense, but it's not like it's a surprise. They knew what they were up against.
Edit: And to add one other thing, I see a lack of emotion in UConn. Granted you don't want to do anything stupid, but I don't remember see anyone really getting fired up besides Adrien a couple times. Where's the pride you're supposed to have at home?Last edited by jaygg1; 12-29-2008, 09:01 PM.Check out my sports blog:

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
Typical UConn loss.
Awful half court offense with no off the ball movement (six dimes for the entire game)
Uninspired defense, especially rotations
No idea how to handle screens, on ball or off
Half asleep crowd
No outside shots
Outhustled
Looked like we expected to just show up and win
We're dooooooomed.
Welcome to the Hartford Civic Ce..... er, XL Center. Players hate it, Calhoun hates it, university likes it because it = more money than playing on campus. The crowd is always bad there, it's got to be the worst "home court" advantage of any powerhouse program in the country. The rants have gone on for years but we gotta live with it until the place is condemned or collapses.Last edited by ehh; 12-29-2008, 11:18 PM."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
I don't know how it came off on TV, but I thought the crowd was actually very good this game, at least for the XL Center. Completely packed, even the student section even though it's break, and it was very loud until the game got away. Calhoun even mentioned the crowd after the game.
The game itself was terrible however. Dominated in every aspect of the game. But it's only one game, hopefully a wake up call that they need to bring it every night in the Big East.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: 2008/2009 Big East Thread
WOW...this conference looks wide open. There are at least 7 or 8 teams with a legitimate shot at winning it.
On a side note, how can WVU have an RPI ranking of 12, be 10-2 with a 30 point win on the road over an undefeated and ranked Ohio State team, and not make the Top 25? They could easily be undefeated after basically giving the UK game away and then losing the close one to Davidson while playing without 2 starters in Ruoff and Mazzulla. Oh well, there is still a ton of games left to play and they will have plenty of chances to prove themselves night in and night out in this league.Comment
