Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Wow........if only WVU could win a game by 8 or 9 points so my blood pressure and heart can have a good rest one night. Now I have the wife mad at me for waking her up when I jumped up and yelled in celebration of the victory. What a tournament and what a game!!! Butler = Clutch.Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Allowed Butler to get into the lane way too easily at the end. Hell of a finish though and I give WVU credit, they lock-down on D and get stops, they don't even have any true bigs or shotblockers either.
I still think you guys get the #2 seed matched up with the worst 1 seed (Dook) which means you get to stay close to home.Comment

Congrats to West Virginia!
Awesome...awesome game last night. Big East basketball is second to none.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If there is anyone who knows how to run a 2-3 as good as Jim Boeheim its Mike Hopkins. Not to mention he is one of the best Recruiters in the Nation, The Future looks bright for Syracuse. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Looks like the Big 10 is going to change the face of our conference one way or another. Losing Rutgers was never a big deal, but if UConn, WVU or Syracuse leave then the bsaketball-side of things will take a huge hit.
Man, I just can't imagine UConn playing in the friggen Big 10 tourney in whatever dumpy arena they play it in instead of playing in the BET at The Garden. My fondest memories of any games I've seen in person are at the BET, it will suck beyond words if that's no more.

I can't see SU or UConn leaving the Big East. I could see WVU make a move to the Big 10, especially since they've been strong in football the past decade.Currently Playing:

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
The Big East in it's current state has issues. It's the only 16-team conference and it's the only power-6 conference that has non-football schools in it, and we all know college football rules college athletics. Eventually there will be a "Catholic League" for G'Town, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and all the schools that don't have football programs. The current eight BE schools that have a football program will likely be elsewhere, within five years according to a Boeheim quote from this past weekend."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Both Cuse or UConn would jump at the chance to join the Big 10, hell any Big East team would. The figures are staggering financially, it'd be foolish to turn down an invitation. The question is whether or not the Big 10 will actually invite Cuse or UConn. We may not be worthy in their eyes lol. It was one thing for Cuse to turn down the ACC in '03 because the ACC isn't a football powerhouse or have the financial power that the Big 10 does. Probably a smart move back in '03 too, the move hasn't exactly been a dream for Boston College.

I am not a fan of the Big 10 at all, though. Boring style of play in both football and basketball.Currently Playing:

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Haha, that was the end of Jimmy B's quote, he said he'd "be off fishing somewhere" when the move happens so he didn't care.
I agree about the style of play synonymous with the Big 10, boring stuff for the most part.
There's no doubt that the move would help UConn's football program out immensely though. Having Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, etc coming to the state to play college football - I assume it'd spark a big interest in the state. Plus we have a 10-year deal with Notre Dame, though none of the 10 games are going to be played in the state of Connecticut.
If they could take three Big East teams I would be in favor of the move. If it's UConn, Pitt, WVU or Cuse then I'd be okay with it.
(Totally making these up)
Big 10 Division A:
Ohio State
Penn State
Illinois
Iowa
Indiana
Pitt
Northwestern
Big 10 Division B:
Michigan
Wisconsin
Michigan State
Purdue
Minnesota
Connecticut
Syracuse/Rutgers/WVU
It's not horrible. It would certainly get me more into college football."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
