I love watching Michigan State play. They hit the offensive boards like mad men."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Sparty is falling into UNC's game tempo. They were fine when they were running an offense and banging on the boards.
Wasted a few possessions trying to push the ball.#WashedGamerComment

UNC simply has too much size and too much athleticism for MSU to contend with. And MSU has no point guard who can blow by defenders and create open looks on the perimeter for other guards or swingmen. I like Appling's game, but he's not an explosive player off the dribble who can get into the lane whenever he wants. The Spartans have no chance beating a team who can keep Green, Nix and Payne from crashing the boards becuase I do not foresee them shooting well from the field for majority of their games.
Gotta give props to the Tar Heels though. That team's starting unit looks solid at every position. And they have several trees coming off the bench who can get up and down the floor. Even if they aren't able to blow a team out from the get-go, they'll still be able to wear 'em down at some point during the second half of ball games.

Gotta say... I think we may be surprisingly solid this year. Much less talent but a much better team, which is when Izzo (and MSU) usually thrives.
Dray is a completely different player from last year, and looks like two years ago again. Thank God, because I can't take another year of his jacking threes left and right.
The amount of PT Thornton gets still bothers me a ton, though.Comment

I can't blame the Spartans for playing Thornton more minutes because the team desperately need him to be the club's deadliest spot-up shooter from three-point land. It's too bad that he hasn't been able to step into that role yet. And the guy is a complete liability on the floor if he's not knocking down jumpers because he's certainly not a good perimeter defender.
However, I believe Thornton's lack of shooting success should not completely fall on him. Thornton needs one of the guards to draw his man closer to the lane so to get him more wide open looks from the arc. Appling couldn't get the job done in this game, and Trice is just too inexperienced to run much of coach Izzo's system this early in the season.
