I tried to tell everyone here at Syracuse that if we made it far enough, we wouldn't have to face Vandy or FSU, but nobody listened.

That doesn't surprise me. Considering the reputation that UNCC's student section has when Cincinnati schools are visiting, I'm sure they did nothing to invite that. Anyway, Lyons getting involved isn't shocking. Never really been a fan of his. Great basketball player skill-wise, questionable character. The showboat dunk instead of pulling back and running out the clock is something he'd do. It doesn't represent the kind of player that typically wears a Xavier uniform.

Should be one helluva game. I don't like the way Wisconsin matches up with us at all. Only thing I really think we have a big advantage in is that we can beat man to man defenses off the dribble pretty easily, but I know Wisconsin is very tough on D. I'm interested to see if we try to throw our press at you guys to try to speed up tempo a little bit since you guys are so deliberate.

That would be awesome. I root for that every season.

This tri-state area I live in is a heckuva college hoops hotbed: Indiana, Xavier, Cincinnati, Ohio U., Ohio State, Louisville, and Kentucky all make the Sweet 16. Pretty darn cool.

I never did fall for the FSU hype that they would be a Final Four team. Nevertheless, I didn't expect that they would lose in the 2nd Round (or I guess they call it the 3rd Round these days).

Gottfried got a $1.5 million bonus for making the tourney.

In his contract he signed in April 2011, the school agreed to give the coach an additional two years on his contract if he brought the Wolfpack back to the tournament. That’s a guaranteed $750,000 per year and if he actually finishes out the contract, it’s an additional $450,000 a year. The deal was negotiated by New York-based firm, The Agency.

Yup although that was for in the 1st 2 years, and was more expected for next year.

I would love to see Kentucky & Xavier in the elite eight, and that would be hard for me to root on a team
I am very happy to see XU in the sweet sixteen, even if I think they got lucky with Duke losing.

I hope you can re-post this at about 9:15 PM on Friday night. Don't get ahead of yourself.

They did have some luck with Duke losing but they still had to play the team that beat Duke. That was a good team, with a great star player, that X beat. Lehigh just couldn't make anything for most of the last 25 minutes or so of the game. I admit I felt better about X's chances against Lehigh than Duke. The Blue Devils have had a knack for breaking X's heart in the Dance (1987 and 2004). It is what it is. We'll see if X can beat Baylor.
