My numbers earlier were off...it's 5 teams worse than 45th, not 25th that have made the FF in the last 12 years.

Yeah but check the offensive efficiency rankings. Seven of the last eight years the team that won the title was in the top 2, and all teams that won titles were in the top 16. Offensive efficiency is a good predictor as well. I bet Michigan's defensive efficiency will bump up now that conference play is in full swing and they're playing closer games.

Hey, I'm not going to debate that Michigan is a very good team...by the end of the year they might be right up there in defensive efficiency. Right now, however, they would be a statistical outlier if they won the whole thing.

Yeah, you're right about that. Also with all the variance in the tournament even if you did pick Michigan you're still going to be wrong most of the time.

Prior to today they were 8th in the country in offensive rebounds allowed %. That's pretty good in my book.

Going by KenPom's numbers, Michigan's downfalls seem to be forcing turnovers (249th in TO%; 267th in Steal%) and blocking shots (216th in Block%). They also seem to allow opponents to shoot a decent percentage from the field (115th in eFG%), but it's not too terrible.

And if you look at those eight teams, all eight of them were top 16 in defensive efficiency as welll. You need to be pretty good at both offense and defense to win a title these days.

This is all I'm trying to say...not that Michigan isn't good, but that they may not be good enough on the defensive end to win it all.

Yeah, it'd have been interesting to see what would have happened if App wasn't in foul trouble all game. But, we shut down Zeller so both leading scorers were pretty much non-factors. On a similar note, I'm not very impressed with him (Zeller).

Oladipo on the other hand, I think I'd rather have on my team than any other player in college basketball. He has improved so much.

Many people who don't follow Indiana really close say that. Lets just be honest if he doesn't come here we are still trying to crack the top 25.

He made it ok for local Indiana stars to come to IU.

He saved our program. Literally. When he came.

On the court he does do much other stuff to help this team win. He plays good D, his passing, ECT. His presence alone makes us a national contender. Without him we aren't Final Four threats.

He's not going to put up 25 & 12 numbers every night because we have so many more weapons.

People forget that the reason IU was so terrible a couple years ago was defense. Zeller basically came in and fixed everything on the defense. And yeah, he also really turned recruiting around.
