If there's a bad call at the beginning of the game you still have chance to recover from it.

I used to be indifferent when it came to Ohio State, but after this game I hate them and their dopey looking point guard.

Wish there was a different game up next I have a feeling this one won't even be close, hopefully Temple can give them a game.

Yeah but bad calls throughout a game change momentum, runs, and they add up to the point where they effect the outcome of a game more than one single call late in a game.

Of course a late call that is questionable is easier to see the direct influence on the final score of the game.

I think of the Marquette vs Butler game yesterday and the refs decided to swallow their whistles in the second half and let Marquette play very physical and in the end all those extra steals through contact were the difference in the game.

Sure, but when that call was made the game was tied. At that point 75-75 is no different than 0-0. Everything played out and it was an even game. The ref made a bad call and it cost Iowa St the game.

Yeah I do agree. It's a tough spot to make that call especially late in the game. I do not envy officials for having to judge these plays at full speed. Who knows what the outcome could have been had Iowa State got the three point play. It's a shame that this one call is the focal point of what was a very good basketball game played by both teams.

The last thing basketball needs is more contact. There is already way too much bumping, slapping, grinding, and pulling as it is. Scoring is down enough as it is and the way the game is officiated is a big cause of it.

What did Aaron Craft do in this game to make you hate him? It isn't his fault the officials made a bad call.

And they call fouls on bumping, slapping, and all the ticky tack crap.

Not all the time. It is what makes the Big 10 so frustrating to watch during the conference season. The officials allow holding, bumping, slapping, and pretty much everything short of punching.

@JayBilas: On the charge call, college basketball refs repeatedly call charges on clear blocks. It is an epidemic, and a failure. We can do better.

                          Bilas knows whats up.

A bad call in a one possession game can have an effect on the game regardless of when it was called. Bad calls late in the game just seem to have more of an impact.

Yeah but as it was already pointed out, a bad call with 15 minutes left in the first half gives you plenty of time to recover. A bad call that takes 3 points off the board and gives your opponent the ball with less than a minute is a killer.

It takes away from the game because teams can't get any kind of offensive flow. Its the same way in the Big East.
