The ref was an idiot for getting in Cronin's face, but how this whole sequence happened without even one technical is crazy.

As I was watching the game, I didn't even realize Valentine stepped up on him like that, I saw Cronin going nuts and it seemed like he was just trying to get T'd up and Valentine wouldn't do it. I was like, why isn't this ref giving him a tech? Is he trying to make a point because he can tell the coach is actually TRYING for one?

Then during half time of a later game they showed the whole sequence where Valentine aggressively got right in his face and Cronin lost it (understandably), so then it made sense why he didn't give him the T. I'm guessing he knew he crossed the line and just let Cronin give him an earful.

I can't stand Cronin. The guy is a good coach but boy is he a whiner and a total BS artist. The man has a severe Napoleon Complex as well. It is funny watching him get fired up though.

That said, I don't blame him for the way he acted after TV Ted got into his face. The ref shouldn't be doing that.

Cronin learned how baseball managers feel. In basketball, that is apparently some big deal. Baseball umpires have somehow been given the power to get in anyone's face whenever the hell they feel like it.

Cronin learned how baseball managers feel. In basketball, that is apparently some big deal. Baseball umpires have somehow been given the power to get in anyone's face whenever the hell they feel like it.

College basketball coaches are getting out control with their antics on the court. I am surprised more referees are not doing this more.

I'm not a big fan of Teddy V. I thought he did a good job not giving Cronin a tech because he basically incited him.

I like Dakich as an analyst, it seems like I may in the minority with that but I think he gives you his opinion and I think he enjoys his job. His years of coaching are what I think makes him come off complaining but it's really how a lot of coaches are.

True, though you could argue Cronin deserved a tech for his first reaction, before Valentine went at him. Just frustrating the lack of consistency. A few weeks back against Lousiville Ollie picks up 2 tech's in less than 5 seconds, and then here Cronin carries on much longer, and during other parts of the game as well and gets nothing.
