    1/19-1/25 Game Discussion Thread

There are 2 nice games tonight with #4 Villanova at Georgetown and #19 Oklahoma at #11 Kansas. However I still miss the old Big Monday.

Big Monday isn't what it used to be, hopefully it will regain its luster in the next couple years. The ACC isn't used to playing a big game on Monday and I think a lot of them get saved for the weekend.

The Villanova Georgetown is very interesting. I'm interested in seeing the Ochefu Joshua Smith. Both teams are similar in the respect they both share the ball and don't have a dominant scorer and we have Bill Raftery on the call.

I was excited for both the games and go figure that both games are blowouts at the half. Nova looks awful shooting 27 percent and 10 turnoves at the half. I haven't been impressed very much at all by Villanova, I think they overrated and won't make it pas the first weekend in March.

Proud of the Sooners hanging tough at the Phog.

They need to get stops to get their offense going. Villanova is a much better transition team than half court team because they don't have a great go to scorer. Pinkston is a good player and Ochefu has improved a lot so he gives them a look they haven't had before; but they're at their best getting 3s in transition off good ball movement. UConn was a bad matchup for them last year because they had a really quick backcourt and I wouldn't be surprised if a similar type of matchup will be their downfall this year.

KU flopping all over the place...James Harden would be proud.

The Big12 is the most entertaining conference to watch. It's going to be a blast to watch night in and night out.

I have no idea who will the conference and the best part is everybody plays each other twice. I don't think Oklahoma will be consistent enough to win it; so it's probably Kansas, Iowa State or Texas. Iowa State isn't the biggest team, Texas is still working Isiah Taylor back and Kansas is young.

                    Recap of Last Night:
                    UNC wins at Wake Forest.
Northern Iowa and Wichita State take care of business in the Missouri Valley.
Tulsa stays perfect in the American with a 18 point win against Memphis.
St. John's gets a much needed home win vs. Marquette before their big matchup with Duke on Sunday in the Garden.

Michigan State wins at home against Penn State.
Butler survives at home against Creighton. Creighton has really struggled in Big East play and suffers another close loss.
SMU goes on the road and beats Tulane.
Illinois wins at home vs. Purdue.
New Mexico wins on the road at UNLV and UNLV continues to confuse me with their play in the Mountain West.

                    ON TAP FOR TONIGHT:

Big-Time Games: Xavier at Providence, Maryland at Indiana, Arizona at Stanford, St. Mary's at Gonzaga

Other games: NC State at Miami, Ohio State at Northwestern, Alabama at Arkansas, Washington at Colorado, Arizona State at Cal.

Heels get the win, this kid Mayes for FSU is nasty and tough. They have a good recruiting class coming in with him next year if he's there FSU could get scary.

I really thought this would be the year someone other than Kansas would win the Big12 but it looks like I will be wrong. They had a nice 13 point win at Texas today. Also does anyone get less out of more than Rick Barnes?
