Re: 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread
Apparently their new AD is saying Groce is safe at Illinois.
Quite surprising as I would cut bait and start over if I were them.
They have gotten worse each year he has been there. He really didn't do much at Ohio when it comes right down to it.
He never finished higher than 3rd in the MAC East, he just made the run to the Sweet 16 with them his last year there. His big win was over GTown in the NCAA tourney and everyone beats GTown in the NCAA tourney. He was a combined 34-30 in the MAC but somehow got the Illinois job.
You shouldn't be 13-18 in your 4th year at Illinois and not be fired.
Its all good though, as an IU fan I am glad to see him staying.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread
Only reason he got another year is the 2017 class. I'm willing to bet he's fired after next season and with the boosters finally putting up money for coaches with Whitman as AD they'll throw big money to land a name and hope they can retain the 2017 recruits (Pickett is solid I imagine but Williams and should they commit Tilmon and Goodwin will need to be kept on board).Apparently their new AD is saying Groce is safe at Illinois.

Travis Ford is out at Oklahoma State. They did go to 5 tournaments in 8 years but had only 1 tournament win. They were awful this year at 12-20. They should hire Brad Underwood as soon as his season is over.Comment

You called for it and you get it. Brad Underwood has been hired by Oklahoma State.
Stephen F. Austin head coach Brad Underwood has agreed to become the next head coach at Oklahoma State, the Oklahoma State athletic department has announced. Here’s what athletic director Mike Holder said in an official release from okstate.com: I named three things that I was looking for in the new head basketball coach at Oklahoma […]Last edited by OSUG1; 03-22-2016, 04:13 AM.Cowboys - Thunder - AthleticsComment

Pitt peaked during the year they were upset by Butler. They've been average ever since. Best for both to start over."This is for all of my peoples who understand and truly recognize. Some won't get it and for that i won't apologize"- Talib KweliComment

Not sure how good he can make TCU, his Pitt teams seemed very average the last few years.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Looks like Cincinnati's Mick Cronin is going to meet with UNLV.
Jeff Goodman is saying UNLV will offer $3million a year with no sales tax.
One thing keeping him from taking the job may be his daughter.
He recently went through a divorce and he has joint custody of his daughter and he can not move with her.
Many UC fans would not mind seeing him leave, sports talk here today has been great!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread
I think this is good for both schools. If Dixon could just get TCU in the tournament, that should be enough for TCU. Pitt needed a change of scenery. They have seemed to plateau under Dixon. It wouldn't have been easy firing him since he does get them to the tournament every year. It will be interesting to see where they go.Comment

I think this made too much sense for both the school and Underwood. The crazy thing is people were throwing Doug Gottliebs name out there. I know he played there but he has no coaching experience. You called for it and you get it. Brad Underwood has been hired by Oklahoma State.

I would love to see the 2-3 year disaster that would be Doug Gottlieb, Head Coach.
Plus it would take him out of the analyst and broadcast chair. Everybody wins!Comment
