Believe me, half the fans will hate the officials no matter what, every Game at every level. Just the way it is. Doesn't necessarily mean they were bad. Officiating is hard, it's hard to make every call correctly, it's hard to say you got everything right unless you call absolutely EVERYTHING, and nobody wants to watch that trash. But, some of these crucial calls late in the game cannot be messed up especially when they have the availability of replay. I've reffed with plenty of great refs at the high school level, most of them just have no desire to move up to the big time. So I don't know that it's going to get a lot better, unless the NCAA starts to discipline officials more. Almost all of the college officials I've reffed with all think they know it all and are horrible to be partnered with. In reality they should be studying the rules constantly and trying to get better just like anyone else, but I don't think a lot of them do because there haven't been many (any) consequences for doing a poor job.
