As has been said, what happened yesterday/today was just the tip of the iceberg

It's not just the NCAA but the entire basketball scene...AAU, sneaker companies, college universities, agents...yesterday was just a tip of the iceberg. A whole lot more Ed Martins are going to be named, me thinks.

And it's going to get ugly at UofL, not that it wasn't already.

Pitino apparently not giving up without a fight.

Re: The Official "FBI Investigation" Thread

Damn! As a fan of college basketball this really saddens me. It has also been a long time coming, though. It's time the NCAA change their model.

Let the kids who want to go pro, go pro. If they fail in the NBA or Europe, tough. Force the ones who want to actually be student athletes to stay in school at least long enough (2 years) to get an Associates Degree.

I don't think the schools should pay the players as I do believe the players benefit just as much playing for a Duke or Kentucky. let the players who have a market make some money. If a fan wants to pay Lonzo Ball 300$ for an autograph let him make and keep that money. The 11th man on the team isn't getting that much. If their jersey is selling in the bookstore give them a percentage of that sale. If a star player like Ball decides to come back to school, cover the insurance for whatever they stood to make in case of injury. It benefits everyone. I honestly think that this would take some of the underhanded money stuff out if it's all above board. Anyway, I hope this doesn't destroy college ball as I'm a big fan.

And allow me to clarify that I have no idea who Jurich's daughter is and am sure she's a fine and decent U.S. citizen, but my point was to how convoluted and Machiavellian this whole scheme was. I just read the "War and Peace" article on ESPN that recounts the whole thing going back to the Blazer guy and the ref/suit-maker guy and it wouldn't surprise me at all if there's family members and other kickbacks and in-kind contributions involved. Just a weird mess to the point where I actually wouldn't be SHOCKED (like Pitino) if an AD used his family members as pawns in some scheme or other.
