I almost feel bad for Syracuse being so far under the radar after the biggest tourney upset ever, well plus beating TCU was probably not considered an upset anyway

They were 5 point dogs but I don't think anyone besides TCU fans are surprised by it. I don't see them beating Michigan St though, Tom Izzo has SU's number,

In hindsight, if there ever was a #1 seed to go down it's a UVA type of team. A team that relies on defense and is weaker offensively is always going to be susceptible to a team going off and putting them in a hole.

It still shouldn't happen, and UVA wins that game 99 times out of a 100, but they really aren't the kind of team that can come back from a deficit.

Going into the game, Virginia was a 20.5-point favorite.

The 16-seed beat them so bad that the 16 almost covered the spread.

Its a combination of things, they use a group effort to score 60+pts they dont really have a guy that can get them 20-25pts, loss of their ACC 6th man of year for the tourney. Not a very deep bench i think if it was 7 game series maybe uva would win 4-3 with last night roster

Looking at the slate of games today it feels like the early games all have potential to be blowouts...it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Nova/Bama has been better than I expected already.

Didn't it almost happen to the fab 5? I remember an OT game against a team with a dude who wouldn't stop licking his fingers and then rubbing the soles of his shoes

edit: looked it up, I was a little off, it was '94 vs Pepperdine and Webber had already left, and Michigan was a 3 not a 1, no update on the finger licker

This has to do with the NIT...I just flipped over to the PSU/ND game and noticed they are using the women's rule of 4 quarters instead of 2 halves. Is this an experiment? Has the NIT used 4 quarters before and I just missed it?
