I wouldn’t put it past #13 seed Marshall to beat WVU later, either. They’re sure to be extremely motivated facing their in-state rivals, and an in-state rival that canceled their yearly neutral site series this season. It’s the biggest game in Marshall’s basketball program’s history. Marshall is also on a long winning streak.

I’ll be rooting for WVU, but it has me a bit concerned.

Looks like my fears were unfounded. Blowout!

On to Villanova next Friday. That’s going to be a tough one. Too bad they didn’t lose like some other No. 1 seeds...

Cuse is the type of the team that could winless in regular season play but put them in the ncaa tournament and they always seem to figure out how to win games

It's funny because people used to say the opposite about Syracuse. They've gone from being the high seed that loses early to the low seed that makes some noise every year. Next year's team SHOULD be wayyyyy better, but based on how things have played out recently, that team will probably collapse in the tournament lol.

I know that the tournament is unforgiving and we can't necessarily judge a team by one game, but this year's MSU team seems like one of the most overrated teams I can remember. They were ranked really highly and people were saying they were possibly Izzo's best team ever. LOL

Weren't they ranked #1 in the preseason polls? Pretty nuts.

Aye, im tied for 5th in the OS bracket challenge after the opening weekend. My champion pick is still in it and about 3 of the guys in front of my picked UVA and Arizona to win it all. I got a good chance for a top 3 finish...

Every year it feels like it doesn't matter how many regular season losses they have, if they can just get in they'll be a huge threat regardless of seeding. It also makes me always wonder why more teams don't run that zone

It’s a shame to see Izzo go out today. It’s a crime that his kids had to play through distractions this year. Izzo and his players are the real victims this year.

First off the guy is a first ballot hall of famer and one of the better coaches the conference has had. His rotations were ridiculous all year long. He has a top 5 lottery pick on his team, that was first team all defense in the B1G. He played the lottery pick 22 minutes a game. He was insistent on playing 2 bigs at all times. Yeah the were the B1G regular season champs but they had the easiest schedule in the conference.

He got one lottery projected stud to stay an extra year with this method so why not try it with another?

Because it takes time away from everything else. Everyone high school kid knows how to play man to man, in college they may run slight variations but it is pretty much the same.

Teaching the 2-3 zone requires much more time, it’s not super complicated but there is still a learning curve. So instead of learning X amount of offensive plays in practice, Syracuse will learn Y because the defense portion of practice took longer.
