Re: 2023-24 College Hoops Thread
It sounds like Mitch Barnhart has the money available if he decides to fire Calipari. It seems enough boosters want to see him go to fund his buyout.
There is a tradition when it comes to Kentucky coaches.
Excellent, Good, Drunk
Let me explain.
Rupp (excellent)
Hall (good)
Sutton (drunk)
Pitino (excellent)
Tubby (good)
Gillispie (his nickname wasn't Little Drunk Billy for nothing)
Calipari (excellent, not recently, but excellent overall).
And considering some of the names being thrown around as potential replacements, the next coach will definitely fall into the good category.Comment

Well Scott Drew is staying at Baylor and Dusty May chose Michigan.
Where do we turn now?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Pat Kelsey would be a solid hire in my opinion, hes had success at Winthrop and CoC. Pretty sure hes a program builder too which is exactly what Louisville needs right now.My Teams:
Arkansas Razorbacks
Detroit Tigers
Detroit Pistons
Detroit Red Wings

Re: 2023-24 College Hoops Thread
Cal's future at Kentucky to be decided today. Sounds like he's coming back but he's on the hottest of hot seats next year. It's going to be a pressure cooker.
Not to mention Duke and Kentucky play early next year. If he loses that game then it's gonna start off even more uncomfortable in Lexington.
He better have a plan. Or it's going to be a miserable year for him. He needs to hire someone that is an expert on pressing and zone defenses.
Every ****ing team I watched in this tournament switches defenses. It's not a secret why. Even his beloved NBA is starting to play more zone.
He also better hit the transfer portal hard. And get some good experienced upperclassmen. Last chance Cal.
Tubby Smith didn't deserve the treatment he got. But you're on borrowed time and it can get ugly here in a hurry. Not to mention the majority of the fanbase is furious with him. And rightfully so.Last edited by DamnYanks2; 03-26-2024, 08:38 AM.Comment

Local radio/news reports that its Josh Schertz job to turn down. If he doesn't take the job, Richard Pitino is the backup plan.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I was joking with my brother that they would hire Richard Pitino.
Holy crap, they may do it.
I don't get it. If his name was Richard Smith, would anyone hire him? He failed at Minnesota and has been slightly above average at New Mexico.Comment

Sounds like Calipari will be coming back next season after meeting with Mitch Barnhart today.
Will be an interesting offseason for sure. And the pressure next season will be intense.Comment

He was 54-96 in the Big 10, that is abysmal. He really doesnt deserve the Louisville job at all.My Teams:

Seems as though Louisville is going to hire Pat Kelsey from Charleston.
At this rate, I truly don't think any hire could've made me boast with excitement after the past two years. I just want a competent coach who can get us back to winning.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2023-24 College Hoops Thread
Dude is a hell of a coach if he actually lands at Louisville. Because he's not a "name," I'm sure many Louisville fans will hate on it because they were Scott Drew or bust.
I bet they'll be pleasantly surprised if they give him a chance.Comment
