Duke looks like a singular unit out there, whereas Houston is relying on individual play.

Individual play is great when your guys are hot, not so great when they aren't. UH has to do better of creating good looks for each other.

Cryer is keeping them in game, it would be a 15+ point deficit without him. And Flagg is controlling the game.

His activity on both sides of the floor is very impressive. He never sits, whether its active in the passing lanes or attacking the rim on offense he is always active.

Flagg has an elite motor on both ends. He's doesn't have to be a 30 point scorer. He doesn't have a great handle and don't think he'll be a great off the dribble shot creator, but he is determined to get to the rim. He'll either get fouled or has the vision to make great passes.

Seems just like a safe pick. Would love to see him get drafted by a team like Charlotte

I think he's the kind of guy that for the first 3 to 5 years a lot of people will say he wasn't worth the top overall pick but ten years in everyone will think he was.
He's not a volume scorer but he can easily string multiple all NBA defensive teams together. I've always been most impressed with his footwork; its very advanced for a kid of his age.

Houston will need more than 3 assists in a half to move on though

That sequence of Flagg playing on ball defense against the hot hand, forcing the pass, then stealing the pass back and running down in transition to create a foul is going to be what gives him a successful NBA career imo. Not the scoring or shot creation/passing

Hold on are they reviewing this just because a guy got hurt? The play went on for some time after the no call.

Its not enough. You hold Duke to without a field goal for over 5 minutes and you're still down is not a good sign.

They had that beautiful set a few minutes ago that created a easy layup, but other than that its Uzan and Cryer taking turns iso'ing. Thats not going to win them this game

Against elite level NBA defenders, I don't know if Flagg will be able to create for himself to be a #1 guy. But, his effort, defense, feel for the game makes up for it.

Where he lands, could dictate how he starts off. That's why I said Charlotte would be a great fit. They have three 20 point scorers that would surround him allowing him to just play his style. Places like Jazz or Wizards would come with super high expectations of being a 25+ scorer a night.

You hit the nail on the head, that 25+ a night is exactly why I think people will (incorrectly) label him a disappointment early. I think as time passes and it shifts from draft night expectations people would start to appreciate him more.

We've got tornadoes (about an hour away though) coming through, so weather has cut in. But at least they're showing the game PIP.
