What happened to this forum?

Did the change in layout kill this forum? Like not even trying to be funny…the activity on here has gone way wayyy down. Even from a year ago. It’s quite sad.

1) Forum change has made it a little more difficult for some to chat on the forum
2) Discord is the way people communicate a lot more now, which OS has a discord to communicate more immediately

I juste think less people are going online. Not to mention the anger people feel with 2K also. Some people just don't play it anymore. Not saying thats 100% the reason. But the forum itself seems like it's quite stagnant on almost all the forums. I play the old 2k still, but I come here to see if they fix the issues people know about.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, and upsetting the OS crew - this website is truly awful. It's slow and clunky. I check it fairly often, but I'll go a day or two without coming here and as soon as I come back I am reminded immediately by having to wait 10-20 seconds for the forums to open, circa 2001.

To be fair, there are a bunch of other reasons also, and they are very real. Discord, lack of sim players, lack of sim style in this years version compared to previous iterations, other forums, other outlets and options for similar information, etc.

The ads drive me crazy. It used to be amazing. It does help if you use taptalk and become a vip member. I think it's 99 cents a month. I hate ads.

2K used to come here regularly for feedback and to interface with the community. Their new stance the last 5 years has been to increasingly ignore us into extinction. Every tweet they respond to is either about MyPlayer builds, OP dribble combos, green shooting “flexes”, or other such nonsense.

They’ve ignored the sim community and so a lot of the community has slowly left over the years. The terrible forum “upgrade” was just the latest reason for people to stop checking in.

I think they are pretty stagnant on 2K forums. Still might be worth a look over there if you want more activity. Maybe see what Ronnie2K is saying. He is still with them. Online just feels so dead to me. I hate the feel. You feel like a kid in an empty park with no other kids to play with and it's just you and the playground. Very sad really.

This is it in a nutshell. I'm not going to sit here and say that it was a nonstop party in the forums prior to the switchover to the new format. It seemed like 2K's forum wasn't at its peak. That being said, the switchover dropped a bomb on everything. I did some before & after comparisons in another thread on this topic and even when comparing similar threads just from the past year or two alone (old forum vs. new forum), the new forum is dead as a doornail in terms of user participation.

I tried to be patient with the re-brand because I know that my brain always hates change at first, but after waiting 10-15 seconds for the forum to load each day then having an actively worse experience than I ever did with the old forums, it's not too hard to figure out why the user base dropped off a cliff between the old forum in 2025 and the new forum in 2025.

It is to the point that the adds have to be counter-productive, do they not? If half+ of the screen on my mobile device is covered with an add for something I am never going to use, it is not going to generate an add click, just annoyance that is going to reduce the amount of interactions I have with the site in total.

The biggest reason for me is the layout and the app Tapatalk just has been bad. Also just haven’t been enjoying the online aspect of 2K for years now. All people are doing is fading 3s and just shooting completely over you with tempo shooting. It’s a combination of things.

I made a thread about the same observation. The new layout was ten steps back and definetly killed this forum.
