Very much agree with this. We'll get small, iterative changes and improvements each year, which might lead to innovation over time, but I can't imagine any sports game attempting a major innovation from one year to the next out of fear of losing the fanbase.

Between the 2K League and how important the online community is, revamping or overhauling gameplay could risk "ruining" the game, as the are use to 2K playing, controlling, and feeling a certain way. These things get slightly changed and improved each year, but at the end of the day it's still 2K at its core. They're not going to truly innovate the gameplay if it means fundamentally changing the way 2K plays, even if it could result in a better, more realistic game.

The decision to remove the shooting profiles for offline players is shocking and definitely came from someone higher in the 2K hierarchy who simply hates offline gaming. There's no other logical explanation for the removal of the shooting profiles and this is the scary part. They might remove Real Player FG% next year.
